On any 90ft yacht, the owner’s cabin is always going to be pretty special, but the one on the Sunseeker 95 is truly spectacular.

In this video, filmed at Sunseeker International ’s headquarters in Poole, Nick shows us around this raised pilothouse yacht, which boasts a truly palatial interior.

The saloon makes a strong first impression, but it’s the main deck owner’s cabin that steals the show with its double-decker ensuite, giving a real superyacht feel to the interior.

The lower deck guest accommodation is available with either three or four further cabins, this particular Sunseeker 95 was specced out with four cabins, all of which are kitted out to an extremely high level.

The Sunseeker 95 Yacht made its U.S. debut at the Palm Beach International Boat Show last weekend. Offered by U.K.-based yacht builder Sunseeker, the 95 is a raised-pilothouse design that sits in a competitive class of similar-size Italian and American yachts. The 95 has the iconic Sunseeker look, at turns svelte and curvy, with angular windows, a long, aggressive bow, and a large flybridge for gracious outdoor living.

The raised-pilothouse design let Sunseeker move the helm area to its own upper half-deck, creating a larger, more spacious saloon on the main deck and a master suite forward. Where the 95 differs from any other yacht in its class is the tri-level design of the master. Similar to a luxury penthouse, the bedroom sits on the top floor, surrounded by windows for an exceptional view of the water. Looking forward, rather than at the typical wall on any other yacht, a staircase drops to the second level, giving an enhanced feeling of space. The second level has a changing area. Below that, the en suite bathroom, with his-and-her heads, has an exceptional amount of space, while letting the owners enjoy their privacy.

The 95 is available in a four- or five-stateroom layout. Three staterooms on the lower deck include a large VIP, while bumping it up to four would split the VIP in half. Exceptional fit and finish across the 95—from options like granite floors in the heads, to the woods and stones in the cabin, to large picture windows throughout—are also part of the Sunseeker package.

The new Sunseeker 95 Yacht has a range of 1,250 nautical miles, reaching a top end of 26 knots. The 21-foot beam makes the flybridge the most expansive social area on the yacht, with its outdoor bar, lounges, dining table, and optional Jacuzzi. The foredeck—with a nearly bow-width sunpad, plus a lounger and a table—makes a wonderful space for a smaller get-together. Miss Ellie: The Sunseeker 95 gets an American twist

The first Sunseeker 95 Yacht, Miss Ellie  arrived in the US a few months ago and the Poole-based builder was happy to show it off for the first time to an American audience in June. However, it sold several of the 95 Yachts in the US already, based on the design revealed in 2015.

What accounts for that early success is that the 95 Yacht checks off quite a few must haves for yacht owners. Relatively compact and hence easier to dock, it has luxurious spaces, a large superyacht sundeck and a great range of cruising speeds. Capable of long distance cruising, it can also take a quick dash to escape a storm, for instance.

There is no escaping the storm on the day Sunseeker took Miss Ellie out for a spin, though. It’s a typical Florida summer day with tropical rain and wind gusts raising a bit more than the regular wake on Biscayne Bay, a perfect day then to try this Sunseeker yacht out.

This yacht went to a repeat client who uses his boats primarily on the East Coast of the United States and the Bahamas. He bought it as designed and made no changes to the Sunseeker’s layout but the yacht features several upgrades from the standard equipment package.

Yachtbuilders of late have gone back to the drawing board to increase volume on yachts 30 metres or less, to carve out more space for guests and crew. The Sunseeker 95 Yacht does just that, adding a one-of-a-kind three-level master cabin to the mix.

It’s a jaw-dropping feature, especially considering the yacht’s length. On the main deck level is the generously sized bedroom with large windows on both sides; half way to the lower deck are large closets concealed behind mirrored doors around a landing — a great dressing area — and further down is a bathroom finished with honeycomb marble, the go-to solution for luxurious looks without too much added weight.

The 95 Yacht is an evolution of the 28 metre, explains Sean Robertson, Sunseeker’s sales director: “The whole idea with it was to take a very successful platform that we know performs very well, a pair of 12V MTUs, fully stabilised with the Trac system that gives underway and at-anchor stabilisation and twin generators.

“We increased the fuel capacity to 12,000 litres, so it gives you a 500-600 mile range at 20 knots, but if you pull it back to displacement speed — 10 knots, you can go 2,000 miles, so you’ve got a very, very good slow speed cruising yacht if you want.”

The trick to achieve this was to modify the deep-V hull, keeping the fine entry but tapering the angle aft to increase the lift and enhance efficiency at lower speed. Another goal for the hull modification, Robertson says, was to account for the larger fuel tank and support the added weight of a large superyacht tender .

But never mind all of that, the star of the new design is a main deck fully dedicated to the pleasures of the owner, with a nice saloon/dining combination, a compact but professionally equipped galley with its own entrance and the spectacular master cabin up front.

Sunseeker is more than willing to work with a client’s chosen designer but also offers a number of pre-designed schemes including wood veneer, stones and fabric selection. That’s the case with Miss Ellie , which features American walnut as the primary wood and a pleasant décor with furniture designed and built in house at Sunseeker’s shipyard.

The master cabin enjoys especially good views. Sunseeker judiciously cut the tall bulwarks at the cabin’s level, replacing it with clear glazed inserts, so water views are ubiquitous from the bed.

On the lower deck, Miss Ellie has four cabins, one of two currently available options — the other a three-cabin layout on lower deck. For added flexibility the two beds in one of the cabins can be made as one. The large glazed surfaces seen on the outside allow plenty of light inside the cabins.

All have their own en suite, so the layout works very well for charter as well. Crew quarters, for four, are situated aft on the lower deck, configured on this hull as two cabins with two bunk beds.

One go-to solution for boatbuilders to carve out more interior space is to use a raised pilothouse design and that’s the case here. Although the large sundeck, covered with a large hardtop in carbon fibre, is where everyone first assembles as Miss Ellie heads out of the Epic Marina in downtown Miami, the comfortable superyacht wheelhouse quickly proves one of the best places to be to run the boat on a stormy day.

It’s cosy and aglow with the displays of its triple Simrad screens (Furuno or Raymarine are also an option). The screens deliver navigation and monitoring essentials, while two smaller screens display the boat’s two MTU 12V 2000 M96Ls’ performance and fuel burn. An optional joystick is available for increased manoeuvrability with the MTU engines.

Miss Ellie , though, already has bow and stern thrusters and with its hydraulic steering, feels quite nimble. Among upgrades on this hull are larger generators for running the tropical-standard air conditioning, the hardtop and the stern thruster.

Although MTUs are more common, Sunseeker also offers the option of twin Caterpillar C32 Acert engines for the US market, a popular option in North America in part due to Caterpillar’s financing program.

Miss Ellie offers plenty of dry shelter inside, naturally, but also outside. The overhang from the large sundeck provides good coverage on the aft deck fitted with a table and banquette, and a small group forms there, watching the rain fall on Biscayne.

From inside, the weather also is a good show thanks to the big windows that flank the saloon and dining space. The tall bulwarks offer safe passage all around, and shelter from spray but also include a foldout section to form a small balcony off the dining area.

In spite of her husky dimensions, owing to that extra volume, Miss Ellie shows herself to be gifted with speed and agility — a Sunseeker through and through. With a full load of passengers, we manage to reach top speeds in the high-20s, briefly flirting with 26 knots before the captain pulls back the throttles to initiate a vast arch with the GPS still registering 21 to 22 knots.

At top speed, total fuel consumption is around 404 litres per hour. It is possible to halve that consumption by pulling back to 1,800 rpm for a good speed of 18 knots.

Sunseeker is one of few production builders with the flexibility to personalise each hull to client’s desires or market requirements without slowing down the line. The platform of the 95 Yacht enables the shipyard to be quite creative.

The yard is investigating several additional layout options, such as a six-cabin layout, and is also looking into ways to use the large space forward to create a country style galley.

The Sunseeker 95 Yacht is quite the little big yacht and with its deep hull, this design offers a world of cruising possibilities.

The yacht was announced with great expectations from the market, and on that occasion Sean Robertson, Sales Director at Sunseeker International, said: ‘The new 95 Yacht’s design has evolved to perfectly emulate the new design direction of our larger models, yet it still remains unmistakeably a Sunseeker. As the second in a series of five stunning product launches in 2016, this is further evidence of our commitment to invest in developing new exciting models which lead the way in technical and design innovation’.

Sunseeker 95 Yacht layout

Rushing on-board we showed an unusual desire to skip the exterior and began exploring her somewhat innovative layout. She shares the hull moldings of her successful sister the company markets as their 28-meter yacht, but her interior is 30 percent larger by volume than her sister, so she seems to combine a spacious superyacht feel , mixed with many more practical advantages.

In its standard layout the Sunseeker 95 Yacht features a special master cabin on the main deck that is almost duplex in configuration. The full beam master suite takes full advantage of the side windows and an abundance of mirrored bulkheads to exaggerate the sense of space, while forward, a short staircase leads down to a midlevel dressing area and en-suite that further enhances the superyacht feel.

The cleverly designed sleeping area is further enhanced with a small dressing table style desk, plus a pantograph door to starboard that leads directly from the cabin onto the side deck.

The Best Way

There is more sleeping accommodation one deck below and here, on the model we were sea trialing, that is made up of three cabins that are both spacious and well thought out. The option of converting the same space into a four cabin layout would naturally end up compacting the cabins resulting, we feel as a consequence, in the expansive character of the yacht being lost.

That said, Sunseeker 95 Yacht managed to fit in two twin cabins that could be converted into doubles by sliding the two singles together. The third en-suite cabin on this deck proved to be a pleasing VIP where the level of space and comfortable amenities were not far short of those in the master suite.

Continuing the split level concept that began in the master cabin, the raised pilot house offers even more flexibility, contributing as it does to the provision of additional space for the main deck layout.

This means that the oddly-shaped galley/pantry combination is squeezed into a space that is beside and below the pilothouse. Oddly shaped it maybe, but it nevertheless manages to boast its own on deck access door and is well enough laid-out to cater to the needs of eight guests and four crew.

The galley serves a dinning table set immediately aft of it and this will be without doubt a most pleasurable area to eat in as drop down bulkheads to starboard lend a waterside ambience.

The existing crew cabins are not large, but given that the Sunseeker 95 Yacht has to appeal to an audience worldwide it is necessary to show the ability to carry crew. Yet many families will instead, we suspect, use the space as bedrooms for the younger members of the family.

The main saloon and the aft deck are bright and spacious, and while they are two separate areas will we feel act together as a focal point of the boat when users seek to avoid the sun on the deck above.

The décor on these yachts makes use of the builder’s ability to produce wonderfully engineered furniture in house. Lightweight panels are covered in veneers of mahogany and wenge, well-built perfectly finished furniture that has that sleek and expensive looking high gloss quality to it. The sundeck is well-equipped, with a second helm, bar, optional hot tub and plenty of seating for guests to be entertained in style. Both the upper and lower helm stations are both well-considered with the upper one having by far the best view when it comes to confined water handling. Below, there is ample space to handle paper charts, but here again given the yacht’s length and therefore classification regulations she will be obliged to adhere to, it is far more likely that the owner will opt for using electronic charting systems devised for the leisure yachting market and will not need such a large chart table.

In smooth waters of the harbor, Sunseeker 95 Yacht was a dream personified–reacting well to the slightest of engine commands and, using the bow and stern thrusters, seemed to move sideways effortlessly, making docking a dream.

The evident success of this Sunseeker model lies in her flexibility and production schedule. The shipyard takes just six months to produce each one and can build them so that there is no more than a six-week gap between launchings.

The company’s flexible approach to bespoke personalization sees the fourth yacht heading to Hong Kong, where the owner’s desire to radically alter the accommodation has been met by Sunseeker without any hint of resistance.

Sunseeker’s real eye pleaser

The Chinese owner and his American educated wife have specified that their boat will be used more as a day boat with enhanced entertaining facilities. The result is that the dinning area in the main salon becomes an area dedicated to the playing of Mahjong, while the forward master suite becomes the new dinning saloon. The sub deck here changes to become a staff bedroom and en-suite, while the lower deck is to be turned into a deluxe sleeping area with just two wellappointed and enlarged cabins.

We believe in launching the 95 Yacht Sunseeker have plugged a gap in their model range to produce what will become a worthy successor to the Sunseeker 28-meter. Sunseeker have successfully created a real eye pleaser that will be wonderful in a marina and gloriously at home in a quite sun soaked anchorage with unruffled waters.

Powered by Twin MTU 2000 PS Diesel engines makes it capable of 18 knots cruising and 33 knots maximum speed !!

The Sunseeker Predator 95 “Full respray 2021” offers a huge living area created by the seamless blending of the deck saloon into the extensive aft cockpit. Outdoors, the aft deck beach club, which can be accessed via sliding glass doors from the main level salon, includes a settee, a U-shaped lounge and table for al fresco dining, and oversized sunpads for catching some rays. TheSunseeker Predator 95 also has a lighting/sound system that transforms the space into a starlit disco so you can dance the night away. For a tranquil escape, there is a large sunpad and sofa on the bow.
