The 72.8m/238'10" motor yacht 'Predator' was built by Feadship in the Netherlands. Her interior is styled by English designer design house Bannenberg & Rowell and she was completed in 2008. This luxury vessel's exterior design is the work of De Voogt and she was last refitted in 2016.

Predator has been designed to comfortably accommodate up to 10 guests in 5 suites comprising two VIP cabins. She is also capable of carrying up to 18 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

Predator features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels. Her water tanks store around 38,600 Litres of fresh water. She was built to Lloyds Register ✠ 100A1, SSG. Yacht (P), HSC. Mono, G6, ✠ LMC, DM5, SCM, IWS classification society rules, and is MCA Compliant.

More details on the 72.8-metre superyacht Predator have been revealed since being newly listed earlier this year.

Alex Banning of SuperYachtsMonaco and Predator captain, Greg Drewes provide further details on the yacht that broke records upon her launch, known as one of the quietest Feadships ever built, with an impressive top speed of 25 knots.

Built by Dutch yard Feadship in 2008, the steel-hulled yacht was both designed and engineered by naval architects Feadship De Voogt, with sports and interior design by Bannerberg and Rowell.

Alex Banning Director at SuperYachtsMonaco discusses the world-class yacht’s best features in a new interview:

Are there any interior features worth noting that have not yet been covered? How did the interior change during her refit in 2016?

“The biggest change and it’s very important to convey is that she is now a five suite layout, increased from just three. This is a big deal, as it was a hangover from the past and previous press on the yacht’s layout. The fact she is Bannenberg & Rowell and therefore top pedigree, and has extremely current modern styling, are also very important points to highlight.”

What are its best features outwardly? (is there anything that really sets it apart?)

“Her exterior styling in its entirety. There is no other yacht on the planet that looks like her. Every single element of her design, architecture, engineering and hull are fully custom. You can name any single element on that yacht in terms of design and it is custom. Her bow sets her apart mainly, and remains today the first bow in superyachts to have the alternative shape. It isn’t just pretty, it’s also functional, efficient, safe and more comfortable.

“This is a Rolls Royce Feadship, quite literally. Predator is fast, good-looking, super-silent, and finished to the best levels in the world of yachts. In fact, the finishing is better than a Rolls Royce (or any other car). Speed is the other feature worth mentioning, as she will do 25 knots – yachts of this size usually do 17 maximum. This is a steel hull, a round bilge full-to-semi displacement hull, so she’s not lightweight. Yet, she still does 25 knots maximum speed, with no vibration.

“She is unique in her class, size and volume range. There is no other yacht anywhere like Predator anywhere in the world.”

It’s reported that in terms of performance, Predator is one of the quietest Feadship yachts ever built, why is this?

“This is because she has four MTU engines, Rolls Royce controllable pitch propellers, Renk custom gearboxes and enormous amounts of horsepower. Her efficient design and weight management comes from the best yacht builders/designers in the world.

“Predator is a Formula 1 car in terms of people and technology. Her feel and finishing, however, are a thousand times more luxurious! Even with all that machinery and horsepower, the noise and vibration reduction is nothing short of amazing. This is achieved by getting it right from the ground up. Resilient mounts everywhere, floating floors, and vibration panels on bulkheads.

“Feadship as the builder remains a key element to this level of execution and eventual success, because if the builder lacks experience at this level, the likelihood of failure is very high indeed. Frankly for speed, it is hard to make this element exciting because modern cars, for example, make it seem normal and benign. With yachts, throw in multi-dimensional elements to deal with, movement, waves, wind, steel, installed equipment, people, and a very big body of water, and the difficulties are exponential. Succeeding to this level achieved with Predator is unheard of.”

Any state-of-the-art features worth mentioning?

“The engine room, its temple of technology, construction. The construction isn’t typical, everything looks heavy, solid and “thick”, however in reality it’s lightweight, yet retains solidity, form and the same look as a “slow yacht”. This is no mean feat. To execute the owners requirements of speed, silence and no vibration at this size, means that the time, engineering, planning, design and focus required by the team and builder to execute is at a different level of expertise. Imagine, if the weight was wrong, they fail. If the yacht does not perform at sea, they fail. With a slower yacht, there is more latitude and with a high speed yacht, there is minute amounts of latitude and the levels of accuracy required in executing all areas of the build are super-high levels. To repeat such a yacht would cost close to double of the asking price of Predator and take around four to five years to complete.”

We understand her current Captain has been present since the beginning. How did he affect the build of the vessel and the running of her since?

Alex hands over to Predator Captain Greg Drewes for comment:

“As far as the desires of the owner, he submitted a letter to Devries Feadship stating that I had 100% control over the decision making for the entire project. He asked me to put my entire life at sea into a yacht like no other. His primary requests were to make it quiet, to have no vibration, and 25 knots top speed without a turbine.

“I then had him agree to Dickie Bannenberg for the interior, as I would put all my energy into all else. Interiors are not my strong suit and Bannenberg is fantastic. I did design the pilot house after the original design was not to my liking or the owner’s.

“The bow was originally a typical flared bow. A naval architect named Jaap Van Kuelen, working for De Voogt pulled me aside and asked how I liked his new drawing. Jaap and I had become close over the course of the original specs and design.The drawing was the reverse bow and the owner and I reversed the pilot house windows. I presented his design to the owner and he loved it as much as I did, asking if it was feasible. I said “only after model testing.

“Three weeks of testing at Marin in Holland and we proceeded to build Predator. Jaap Van Kuelen also helped to design the two tenders that at the time were the only tenders in the yachting world to resemble the yacht they belong to. Jaap died a few years after we launched Predator.

“A great man, friend and very much missed.”

What’s next for the Predator and what type of owner would really benefit?

“This one is easy, a new owner who will use her. She is on her second owner now and hasn’t been cruising for three years (she only has 2,200 hours since delivery). She “needs” a new home. Her new owner we expect will be a person who wants the ability to go fast in total comfort. She has the ability to go anywhere in the world and having four engines doesn’t mean she can simply go fast. Transit at 10 knots and you can go anywhere in the world, a few times on a single tank of fuel!

“She has all of the modern amenities on board, including a beach club, that many new owners require. She is more “sexy” than an “explorer” yacht, so one would expect her new owner to be of the next generation of yacht owners who want the best out there, willing to pay for the best also. She could be suited for a fleet owner who needs a yacht that will go faster than the rest in the fleet, or, she might go to an owner who is reaching the pinnacle of their yachting time and simply wants an icon. No matter who she goes to next, we know that person will be as unique as she is, and we can’t wait to place her in the hands of owner number three!”

The volumous luxury yacht PREDATOR is a motor yacht. This 73 m (238 foot) luxury yacht was constructed by The Feadship De Vries Shipyard in 2008. Predator is the deepest yacht ever built at Feadship De Vries, at 3.70 meters. New build captain Greg Drewes on the yacht: “Building Predator has been the greatest experience of my yachting career”. Her reverse axe type bow displays powerful exterior styling and is designed to slice through the waves and help Predator attain a top speed over 25 knots. This is a truly remarkable astonishing feat for a yacht of this size.

Building & Yacht Design for Luxury Yacht PREDATOR

The yacht's general design work came from De Voogt Naval Architects. The professional naval architect firm drawings are a products of De Voogt Naval Architects. Motor Yacht PREDATOR received her elegant interior designing from the interior design skills of Bannenberg Designs Ltd. In 2008 she was formally launched to triumph in Aalsmeer and post sea trials and finishing touches was then delivered to the owner. The Feadship De Vries Shipyard completed their new build motor yacht in the Netherlands. A fairly large feeling is brought about with a widest beam (width) of 11.4 metres or 37.5 feet. With a 3.7m (12.2ft) draught (maximum depth) she is fairly deep. The material steel was used in the building of the hull of the motor yacht. Her superstructure above deck is fashioned from aluminium. In 2009 further refit work and modernisation was in addition finished.

The Propulsion Type And Main Engines For M/Y PREDATOR:

PREDATOR retains four burly MTU diesel engine(s) and can attain a uplifting continuous speed of 25 knots. The engine of the ship produces 5793 horse power (or 4320 kilowatts). Her total HP is 23172 HP and her total Kilowatts are 17280. Coupled to the PREDATOR engines are 4sc (rolls royce controllable pitch). For stabalisers she utilises Quantum Zero Speed Non-Retractable.

With an immense GT of 1,467 tonnes, PREDATOR has been recently refit in 2016 in order to effectively accommodate 10 guests across 5 decadent suites, an incredible achievement when compared to her initial 2008 accommodations, which hosted only six people in two VIP guest suites and one master at the time of delivery.

Designed as a private onboard sanctuary, the PREDATOR Yacht’s superb full-beam master suite is located forward on the main deck and opens into a large lounge area, a private office space, a spacious ensuite bathroom plus his-and-hers walk-in dressing rooms. Overhead skylights fill the suite with natural light while floor length windows offer stunning views of the surrounding seascape. PREDATOR’s guest accommodation includes three double suites and a twin suite and is finished in neutral tones with polished wood panelling and large oval windows. Equipped with a full entertainment system plus a luxurious ensuite bathroom, each of the guest suites is meticulously designed.

PREDATOR was commissioned with modern and aggressive design in mind to deliver a sleek, fast-looking superyacht. Crafted by Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw in Aalsmeer (Netherlands), this impressive motor yacht shattered multiple records post-unveiling, most notably The World Superyacht Awards in 2009. Whilst the general arrangement was crafted by Feadship De Voogt Naval Architects, the Bannenberg design studio in London took care of the decorative brief.

Keeping the forward part of the principal deck light helps the epic PREDATOR achieve astounding speeds of up to 25.5kts at half load. Whilst this space cannot be occupied when the yacht is underway, this is no price to pay for the performance gained. The New York lawyer who died in the Bayesian yacht sinking wrote a LinkedIn post months before the tragedy that ended with 'they all lived happily ever after'

• Mike Lynch's lawyer wrote a chilling LinkedIn post two months before the superyacht tragedy.
• Celebrating his client's acquittal, Christopher Morvillo wrote: "They all lived happily ever after."
• Morvillo was one of the seven people who died when the yacht sank off the coast of Sicily.

Late British tech billionaire Mike Lynch 's top lawyer wrote a chilling LinkedIn post just two months before the superyacht tragedy — a note that ended with the phrase, "They all lived happily ever after."

Attorney Christopher Morvillo 's post spoke about his recent legal win in June, when Lynch, charged with fraud over the sale of his company Autonomy to Hewlett-Packard, was acquitted of all charges .

His LinkedIn post discussed the "thrilling verdict" after "years of painstaking work."

He thanked members of his law firm, Clifford Chance and Steptoe LLP, with whom he worked on the case. His post also included a June 14 article from ALM, a law publication, which called him one of its "Litigators of the Week."

Then came the last two paragraphs, which touched on how happy Morvillo was to be back home with his family.

"And, finally, a huge thank you to my patient and incredible wife, Neda Morvillo, and my two strong, brilliant, and beautiful daughters, Sabrina Morvillo and Sophia Morvillo," he wrote. "None of this would have been possible without your love and support. I am so glad to be home."

Morvillo was one of the seven passengers killed out of the 22 people aboard Lynch's 183-foot superyacht called "Bayesian." The yacht sank during stormy weather near Palermo, Italy, on August 19.

Fifteen people, including Lynch's wife, Angela Bacares, and the ship's captain, James Cutfield of New Zealand, were rescued from the sunken ship.

Lynch, his 18-year-old daughter Hannah, Morvillo's wife Neda, and Morgan Stanley International Chair Jonathan Bloomer died in the tragedy.

Lynch's co-defendant in the fraud trial, Stephen Chamberlain, died after being struck by a car just two days before Lynch's yacht sank.

Representatives for Morvillo at Clifford Chance did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Business Insider sent outside regular business hours.

Liverpool FC owner’s £66 million superyacht spotted off Broughty Ferry

Elysian, owned American businessman John W Henry, has a helipad and heated pool.

A £66 million superyacht belonging to Liverpool FC owner John W Henry has been spotted off Broughty Ferry.

Elysian, a 66-metre-long vessel, docked in the Tay – between Broughty Ferry and Tayport – on Monday morning.

It travelled to the Tay from Aberdeen, where it was berthed over the weekend.

Locals said those on board the luxury yacht appeared to be using a smaller boat to reach the shore.

It is understood Henry was among them.

The yacht has since moved out towards Barry Buddon.

One onlooker said: “I think it belongs to the owner of a Premier League football team as I’d read it was up in Aberdeen yesterday .

“We were walking along the beach this morning when we spotted it.

“You think they’d rather be in the Mediterranean at this time of year with a boat like that.”

Elysian’s arrival in the Tay was mentioned by  Liverpool fan group KopTalkTV on YouTube .

In the video, the host said: “Don’t assume that he is in the UK just because the yacht’s in the UK.

“Maybe if you see him at the game then he’s obviously there, and what happened – he turned up at the game .”

The reason for the visit has not been confirmed but some locals have speculated Henry may be heading to the Old Course in St Andrews.

The yacht, which sails under the Cayman Islands flag, was built in Germany.

With a top speed of 16.5 knots, it has an outdoor swimming pool, helipad, spa centre and gym and glass lift.

There is room on board for up to 12 guests and 17 crew.

Previously named Ester III, the yacht was once owned by Russian entrepreneur Georgy Bedzhamov.

American businessman Henry – who also owns the Boston Red Sox and Pittsburgh Penguins – bought the ship in 2016.
