Dartmouth Yacht Club

Dartmouth Yacht Club #54 Dartmouth | 902-468-6050 | dartmouthyachtclub.ca  | Location 44.42’N 63.37’W

The Dartmouth Yacht Club is ideal for mooring, with a convenient marina for the launch and recovery of boats. The depth of our water lot varies up to 35 feet, ensuring safe and secure as well as ample anchorage. The mooring and marine facilities are continually being improved to suit you better. Our land area is comprised of approximately 5 acres, wholly owned by the Club. In addition, we own a large water lot as well as the southern half of a nearby island commonly known as “Navy Island”. The Dartmouth Yacht Club is located adjacent to Burnside Industrial Park, the largest industrial park in the area. It has a complete range of services and parts for all your yachting and domestic needs, including a “Cash and Carry” grocery outlet within walking distance and a ship’s chandler less than .5 miles away. A large hotel is adjacent to the club’s property. Additionally a private enterprise offers on-site marine servicing – marine engines and hulls.

Dartmouth Yacht Club Sail Training 2024

Dartmouth Yacht Club [email protected] 902-468-6050

You will not be able to checkout until your total is more than $11.

The Dartmouth Yacht club will be offering the Sail Canada instructional program, CANSail 1 to 6 programs for youth ranging from 8 to 16 years of age and the Wetfeet program for participants aged 5-8 years old. Our programs are taught by Sail Canada trained and experienced knowledgeable staff, who strive to show their students the best way to continue safely, and confidently through their sailing careers. These skills will be taught in our Club 420 and Opti fleet. We are located in Dartmouth Nova Scotia on 697 Windmill Rd. We sail in Wright's cove in the sheltered waters behind Navy island as well as outside the cove in the Bedford Basin.

Live dsc 65992

Fall Sailing will be open to ILCA (Bring your own boat), C420, and Optimist sailors. Training will take place on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am-4pm. Fall sailing offers a great opportunity to train in higher winds and to continue building on skills learnt during the summer program.

CANSail level 2 is a REQUIRED PREREQUISITE in order to register for this course. Students registered for this course may be asked to provide proof they have achieved at least their CANSail 2 Level. Students who don't have their CANSail 2 will not be able to participate in this course. Additionally for any new CANSail 3 sailors it is expected that the sailor is comfortable being on the water for extended periods of time in most conditions as well as being able to launch their boat from the ramp.

It is recommended that sailors participating in this course come prepared with clothing to keep them warm in colder sailing conditions. We suggest at minimum a full body wetsuit and neoprene sailing boots. Additionally, a hoodless splash jacket and spandex layers are recommended.
