The Grand Theft Auto games are well-known for including cheat codes, and GTA 5 keeps the tradition going with a large variety of GTA V cheat codes available. There is a total of 34 cheats in GTA 5 , which you can use to have fun in Los Santos, wreak havoc with Michael, Franklin and Trevor, or just have an easier time when playing the game.

The effects of GTA 5 cheats include Invincibility, the ability to restore Health & Armor, get weapons and ammo , remove your wanted level, spawn various vehicles , get explosive bullets, and many many more. It's important to note that all the GTA cheats work exclusively in single-player mode, there are no GTA Online cheats.

How To Enter GTA 5 Cheats on PS5, PS4 & PS3

There are two ways to enter GTA 5 cheats for PS4, PS3, and in the Expanded & Enhanced edition for PS5:

• Controller Cheats: similar to classic GTA games, quickly enter the button combinations on the controller for your desired GTA 5 cheats. You can also enter these in the pause menu.

You can enter GTA 5 cheats on PS4 at any time during general gameplay using the method you prefer, either via the controller or as GTA 5 cell phone cheats. A " Cheat Activated " message will appear on the bottom left of the screen to confirm the activation of the effect.

Unlike cheats in GTA IV , the GTA 5 phone cheats are not stored on the cellphone and must be re-entered each time. However, you can press * on the dial pad to quickly re-enter the last cheat you used.

You can de-activate some GTA V cheats by simply re-entering them, although certain cheats require you to restart the game or reload a previous save file in order to remove them. The GTA 5 cheats also get disabled when your character dies.

Note: several cheats only work in Freeroam and cannot be activated during missions or in restricted areas. In those cases, the game will show a " Cheat Denied " message.

Do GTA 5 Cheats Disable Trophies?

Using cheat codes in GTA 5 will temporarily disable Trophies & Achievements , but only for the current play session .

This means that after you restart the game and reload the save file, cheats will be de-activated and you will be able to earn achievements again. While there is a lot of misinformation about this topic, this is the definitive answer. So unlike classic GTA games, the GTA 5 cheats don't permanently block trophies , even if you saved while cheats were active.

Activating GTA V cheat codes on PS5/PS4/PS3 also prevents you from getting a higher rating than Bronze medals in missions, but again, just for the current game session until you restart the game. It's also important to note that using GTA 5 cheat codes doesn't prevent you from obtaining 100% completion of the game , they're safe to use.

In any case, it's always recommended to save the game before using cheats in Grand Theft Auto V, so that you always have a "clean" save slot where you have not used cheats.

This is the classic GTA cheat that restores your health by giving you full health and armor meters. This cheat also repairs your vehicle if you're in one.

GTA 5 Invincibility Cheat / God Mode

This cheat makes you completely invulnerable to damage for 5 minutes , including bullets, explosions, fall damage, going underwater, etc. The GTA 5 invincibility cheat only lasts for five minutes, however, you can re-activate it when the timer runs out.

Increase your wanted level by one star. The more stars, the more police forces will try to take you down.

This cheat allows you to aim in slow motion, similar to Michael's special ability or Dead Eye from Red Dead Redemption. The effect is increased each time you enter the code (up to Level 3) and gets disabled the fourth time.

The GTA 5 Drunk Mode cheat makes your character drunk and clumsy, with harder controls and distorted camera effects on foot and vehicles.

The Skyfall Cheat in GTA 5 will teleport you high in the sky and make you freefall. You won't be able to use a parachute, but the cheat allows you to fly superman-style for a long time before hitting the ground.

Is there a gta 5 money cheat on ps4.

No, there is no unlimited money cheat code in GTA 5 - not in single-player, and of course, neither in GTA Online.

There are many fake videos on the internet about the GTA 5 Money Cheat, as well as other cheats not on this page - but they're not actually in the game, they're only a result of modding on PC.

Unlike GTA San Andreas and GTA III , which feature dedicated cheat codes that give you $250,000, the money cheat is not present in GTA 5.

However, there are some great ways to make money in GTA 5: The best method is to save Lester's Assassination missions until the end of the story missions, after completing all heists. This will ensure you have the maximum money to invest in the stock market thanks to the Assassinations, allowing you to earn millions across all three characters.

Can you spawn a Tank in GTA 5? (Cheat Code)

Unfortunately, there is no cheat code to spawn a Tank in GTA 5.

Unlike the GTA cheat codes of previous games such as GTA San Andreas , Vice City , and GTA III , there is no GTA 5 tank cheat.

The button combination of the old Rhino Tank cheat is actually assigned to spawn the Buzzard Attack Chopper in Grand Theft Auto V.

Do Cheats Work in GTA Online?

No, the GTA 5 cheats do not work at all in GTA Online.

All the GTA cheat codes are exclusive to the single-player mode of the game, there are no GTA Online cheats.

Can you save the game while using cheats in GTA 5?

Yes, you can safely save the game when using GTA 5 cheat codes, as their effect is not saved and does not carry over when reloading a save.

If you used cheats, you won't be able to earn trophies and achievements just for the current session . This effect will no longer be a problem after you restart the game.

After restarting the game, the cheats will be de-activated, and you will now be able to earn trophies and achievements again. You can also still obtain 100% Completion in a save file where you used cheats.

How to disable cheats in GTA 5?

Some GTA V cheats can be disabled by simply re-entering them a second time, or are automatically disabled when your character dies.

However, certain cheat codes cannot be disabled during the current playthrough, and the only way to de-activate them is to restart the game or reload a previous save file.

Can you use GTA 5 cheats during missions? What is the "Cheat Denied" message?

During missions or specific areas of gameplay, certain GTA cheat codes cannot be activated. These include the GTA 5 Invincibility Cheaty, Drunk Mode, Slow Motion Aim, Explosive Attacks/Ammo, Moon Gravity, the Skyfall cheat, and more.

If you enter a cheat code when it is unavailable, the game will show the following message: "Cheat Denied: Cannot activate that cheat right now."

Either way, using any of the other cheats during a mission will prevent you from obtaining a higher rating than a Bronze Medal.

The same "Cheat Denied" message may also appear with the GTA 5 Car Cheats when trying to spawn vehicles in very small or restricted areas. In this case, try the GTA 5 cheats to spawn vehicles in a larger area where there is more open space, especially for the GTA 5 helicopter cheat.

Can you use the GTA 5 Phone Cheats on PS3?

The GTA 5 Phone Cheats were introduced with the Enhanced Edition of GTA 5 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

So the phone cheats are not available on the original PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions. The only way to enter cheats on the old-generation consoles is via controller button combinations.

GTA 5 Cheats: Play as Any Character & Animals (via Director Mode)

In addition to the main single-player mode and the GTA Online multiplayer, Grand Theft Auto V for PC, PS4, and Xbox One also comes with a special "Director Mode".

The GTA 5 Director Mode gives you the freedom to play as any character model in the game , from Story Mode characters , hundreds of NPC & Pedestrians and even Animals - and free-roam around San Andreas. You can also select your GTA Online character .

In Director Mode you can also fully control your free-roam experience by adjusting various Settings , such as Location, Time of Day, Weather, Wanted Status, Pedestrian Density, and Vehicle Density.

Via the Settings menu, you can also permanently activate certain cheats like Invincibility, Flaming Bullets, Explosive Bullets, Explosive Melee, Super Jump, Slidey Cars, and Low Gravity. All the other cheats can also be activated by entering the respective button combinations.

With the Director Mode in GTA V, you can stage creative scenes, record them, and later edit them in the Rockstar Editor and share them with the community.

How To Access Director Mode in GTA 5

The GTA 5 Director Mode can be accessed in various ways when playing Story Mode:

• From the Pause Menu, by accessing the "Rockstar Editor" tab and then selecting "Director Mode".
• From the Player Interaction Menu

Just be aware that these codes disable trophies and achievements in GTA 5 , if that sort of thing is important to you. You can counter that by re-entering any codes you've used to cancel them, but it is a good idea to use a separate cheat specific save  to be safe and restart the game when you're done to be sure you've cleared everything out. It's also best use a different save to keep your 'main' one cheat free. It's unlikely you'll break the game with these but you can never be too careful. 

Below I've got all the cheat codes for GTA 5. You'll notice there are no GTA 5 money cheats here because cash can't be tampered with. How to use GTA 5 cheats

On PS5, PS4 and Xbox you can enter cheats by tapping the sequence of buttons listed in any code. An on-screen notification will appear to tell you if you got it right. 

You can also use your phone in-game and dial the cheat, which is also the main way to enter codes on PC .  These phone numbers always start 1-999 and then a code which spells out the cheat via the letters on the number pad. Another option on PC is to hit the tilde key (~) to bring up the command console and type in the   codes directly into that.

GTA cheats and cheat codes have been a staple of Rockstar’s crime game franchise since it started back in 1997. GTA 5 is no different, with cheats that do everything from spawn vehicles to turn your fists into explosive weapons to decrease gravity.

Our GTA 5 cheat codes guide lists all the available cheats in GTA 5 — from gameplay cheats like explosive punches to vehicle cheats like free helicopters — and explains how to enter them.

How to enter GTA 5 cheat codes

Before you enter any GTA 5 cheat codes, understand that turning on any of them disables achievements for the session and means that you’ll not be able to score higher than a bronze on any mission even if you turn it right back off again. There are a couple ways to enter cheats in GTA 5 :

• On consoles , you can enter cheats by hitting the series of D-pad, trigger, and face button inputs listed below.
• On PC , you’ll have to bring up the console by hitting the ~ (tilde) key. With the console up, type in the word from the tables below — all upper case — to activate the cheat.
• On both consoles and PC , you can also just enter the phone numbers. Pull up your phone with up on the D-pad. Select contacts, and then hit the X/▢ button. Dial the number from the table below and then hit X/▢ again. (The phone numbers actually all spell out the PC cheat codes.)

Most cheats can be disabled by entering them again.

There are also cheats that will spawn vehicles in GTA 5 like cars, trucks, planes, helicopters, or even submarines for you to use. Spawning the last three (the Dodo plane, the Duke O’Death car, and the Kraken sub) all require you to complete their associated missions (the random event “Sea Plane,” the random event “Duel,” and the Wildlife Photography Challenge, respectively) before they will become available.

Is there a money cheat in GTA 5?

Unlike all of the previous GTA games, GTA 5 does not have a money cheat. There isn’t a way to enter a series of buttons or type in a word for free money. Instead, you’ll have to work for your money and rely on things like robbing armored trucks and various stores, carrying out assassinations, or buying up businesses to earn some cash.

How to Use GTA 5 Cheats on PS4

There are several ways to enter cheats in GTA 5 , no matter what platform you’re playing on. The most common one is by using your in-game cellphone. You can open it by pressing Up on the D-pad, and then entering the appropriate number for a specific cheat to activate it.

Of course, you can always enter the cheats the old-fashioned way, by pressing the fitting button combination. Those combinations are basically the same for PlayStation and Xbox.

We know you all are wondering if there is a GTA 5 money cheat . We will have to disappoint you because Rockstar has not decided to provide this easiest way to load up with money. But even without that, there are countless ways to get funds.

How to use GTA 5 cheats

It's easy enough using these cheats on your console of choice. For Xbox One, Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Xbox 360 or PS3, just tap the relevant buttons. You can also press up on the d-pad to bring up your character's cell phone, then enter the cell phone cheat and it will have the same effect.

The first set of codes to get your hands on all relate to weapons and making the player a completely lethal killing machine.

Spawn all weapons

This is the biggie. Enter this cheat and you'll spawn all weapons and max out the ammo for each one. That means you'll have pockets crammed with everything from the basic pistols to the grenade launcher and everything in between. It's a box of lethal toys for you to play with - just be careful not to accidentally blow yourself up.

Invincibility

Unleash violent chaos in GTA 5 and you'll soon have the cops, the local gangs, gun nuts and general populace returning fire. Not a lot of people back down in Los Santos. So with this cheat you'll make yourself invincible. You will not die. That doesn't mean the locals won't stop throwing bullets at you, so expect the chaos to continue until you manage to shake them off. Or kill them all.

Max out health and armour

If you don't want to be completely invincible but do want to keep your ticker pumping, this is the cheat for you. So much quicker and easier than using first aid or eating snacks from a vending machine, this cheat will pump your health back up to maximum and equip you with the highest form of body armour. Now you're feeling tip-top again, you can jump back in to the action.

Recharge special ability

This is another cheat that gives you a boost without making you super-powered. You might want to use this during the main campaign for that little uplift. It basically recharges your characters special ability. For Franklin that means Driving Focus , so he can slow down time when handling any vehicle with wheels, allowing pinpoint accuracy when racing around the streets. Michael's special ability is Bullet Time . He can slow down time to target heads and other hotspots with complete accuracy - although he can only do this on foot. Trevor's special ability is Red Mist . Red Mist allows Trevor to take less damage and inflict more pain when he's in the zone, so he can be a little more wild and less cautious of the damage he might take.

Raise Wanted level

If you really want to taunt the police and you can't be bothered to start the antagonism from scratch, this cheat will max out your wanted level immediately. That means you'll be descended upon by special military police in helicopters and tanks and with van-loads of support. Brace yourself.

Okay, so you need to take it down and notch and you just can't shake those relentless cops? You need to lower your wanted level by entering this cheat. Each time you enter it you lower your wanted level by one star.

When normal bullets just won't kill quick enough, you need explosive bullets. These are great for taking out heavily armoured targets and for dropping enemies with a single shot. Especially useful when going up against the police or military because those guys do not mess around.

Slow down aim

This is similar to Michael's special ability in that it gives you a bullet time cheat but can be applied to any of the three characters. You can enter it up to four times, with each entry slowing down time further. The fifth time you enter it you'll return to normal time.

Duke O' Death

Probably the most fun you can have on four wheels in GTA 5. This badboy is bullet proof, sounds like farts in Hell, and punches other vehicles off the freeway. You'll never go back to another muscle car. As this was added post-release, you can only spawn this using the in-game phone.

Is There a Money Cheat?

Unfortunately, there is no cheat code in GTA 5 to get infinite money. You'll have to earn money the hard way by completing missions such as Lester's Assassination Missions and robbing armored vehicles . That said, there's a cheat code for pretty much anything else your heart could desire--which, coincidentally, will make earning money that much easier!

How to Enter on PS4, PS5

There are two methods to entering cheat codes on the PS4 and PS5.

• The first method requires a series of button presses entered rapidly on the controller.
• The second method is to enter cheat codes via the characters' in-game cellphone. Press Up to pull up your phone, select Contacts , then go to the dialpad by pressing Square . From here, enter the cheat code starting with 1-999.

How to Enter on PC

There are two methods to entering cheat codes on PC.

Cheat Codes Disable Trophies/Achievements

Note that entering cheat codes will temporarily disable the ability to earn trophies or achievements for that session , so use codes at your own risk. To start earning trophies or achievements again, simply turn off all cheats you've activated.

Deactivate Cheats by Dying, Restarting Game, or Re-entering Cheat Code

You can deactivate any cheats you've entered by dying, restarting the game or console, or by re-entering the specific cheat code again . Trophies and achievements are temporarily unavailable while any cheat codes are active, so it's recommended that you turn off all cheats while progressing the main and side missions. For extra precaution, consider creating a separate save file (with autosave turned off) dedicated to playing around with cheat codes so as not to interfere with game progress on your main save!
