Silver Yachts launches first 36m SpaceCat catamaran

Silver Yachts has successfully launched the first hull in its SilverCat series of luxury catamarans. The 36-metre Spacecat was constructed at the shipbuilder’s facilities on the Pearl River Delta in Guangdong Province, China.
Silver Yachts , a builder of custom, high-performance aluminum vessels, is working with leading naval architect and designer Espen Øino as a strategic partner on the SilverCat range.
The superyacht launched last month, with pictures of the launch being released this week for the first time. The yard says SpaceCat is currently undergoing sea trials, and will be delivered in August 2022. It has reportedly reached max speeds of 22 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots.
The success of the market-driven 36m — which sold swiftly to an Asian client earlier this year — has prompted Silver Yachts to develop 22m and 24m SilverCat hulls.
Earlier this year, Silver Yachts appointed Denison Yachting as its dealer for the SilverCat range of luxury catamarans in the Americas and the Caribbean.

Silver Yachts and renowned naval architect Espen Øino have designed some super interesting vessels over the past five years. The duo’s latest catamaran is no exception.

In terms of power, the 118-footer is equipped with four Volvo Penta IPS engines that enable a top speed of 24 knots and a cruising speed of 12 to 14 knots. Silver says the propulsion system is extremely quiet, efficient, and easy to handle in all conditions.
The generous layout is the real draw, though. With a beam just shy of 44 feet, the SilverCat offers roughly 6,200 square feet of outdoor deck space and more than 3,200 square feet of room inside. The “spacious and vibrant” living quarters sport four en suite cabins for up to 12 guests, a main deck dining area, and upper deck salon. Outside, you’ll find a chic sundeck, a large infinity pool aft, and a number of alfresco lounges.
Silver has teamed up with Fraser to sell this particular cat (Hull 803). It will be ready for delivery shortly, so the buyer won’t have too much of a wait. They’ll also have the opportunity to customize and fine-tune it before it hits the seas.

SilverYachts launches second 36m SilverCat named Reduce
Australian shipyard SilverYachts has launched the second unit in its 35.5-metre SilverCat series from its facility in the Guangdong Province of China. Christened Reduce , delivery is scheduled for the last week of July after which she will make her debut at this year's Monaco Yacht Show .
The catamaran comes from the drawing boards of long-time collaborator Espen Øino and has since been coined as a "villa on the water". Series highlights include an open-plan layout, a full-beam master suite and a "stunning swimming pool", according to the shipyard.
The SilverCat series marks SilverYachts' first venture into multihull design. The model is designed to reduce the environmental impact of yachting and features a lightweight, low-resistance aluminium hull.
A 13.6-metre beam allows for generous living spaces, including 575 square metres of exterior decks and 300 square metres of interior living space. Accommodation is for a total of 12 guests in one master cabin, two doubles and two twin cabins, one with two Pullman beds. The crew quarters, meanwhile, can accommodate eight staff in one double captain’s cabin, two twins and one triple cabin. All cabins are en suite.
According to Øino, the catamaran also delivers "ridiculously low" fuel consumption with a top speed of 20+ knots thanks to a low-resistance and lightweight hull. "This is something which is aligned with SilverYachts," he said. "Being built in aluminium, being lightweight and with slender hulls, we're able to operate at speeds with very modest power."
The partnership between Øino and SilverYachts began back in 2007 with the launch of the first SilverYachts hull Silver (now named Rabdan ), which at the time was the largest all-aluminium vessel in the world. Since then, the pair have gone on to build the 77-metre Silver Fast , the 85.3-metre explorer BOLD and the 85-metre Wanderlust .
According to BOATPro , construction on the third SilverCat hull is progressing swiftly with delivery scheduled for October 2024.
