Marina & Berthing

An easily-accessible haven on the east coast.

Whether you are a long-standing berth holder or a weekend visitor, SYH provides a friendly welcome and a range of onsite services and facilities.

Suffolk Yacht Harbour (SYH) has 550 marina berths and additional swinging moorings.

The marina has berthing for yachts up to 21.3m (70 feet) with a maximum draft of 2.5m (8.2 feet).

The berthing office is open from 8.00am to 5.30pm, seven days a week, except for the Christmas and New Year bank holidays.

Visiting yachts.

If you are visiting Suffolk Yacht Harbour (SYH), you will need to request a temporary berth or mooring via the berthing office. Upon arrival at the marina, visit the berthing office, located within the main reception building.

Wifi, Power & Water

All pontoon berths have 16amp metered power hook-ups and fresh water nearby. Electricity and wifi is included in the fees for visiting yachts.

Haven Ports Yacht Club

Located in the famous red LV78 lightship, HPYC offers a warm welcome, food and drinks for members and visitors.

Security & CCTV

CCTV is in operation throughout the marina.

Self-launch Slipway

A slipway is available near the fuel berth for self-launchers and berth-holders. Contact the marina office or chandlery to find out more.

Marine Businesses

Eleven marine businesses operate onsite at SYH, including a classic boat chandlery, sail making, rigging, engineering and electronics.

Toilets & Showers

The marina has three state-of-the-art shower facilities, which are free for berth holders and visitors.  One is located opposite the lightship, one at the east end of the harbour, and one at the west end of the harbour. Contact the chandlery or berthing office for the access code.

SYH’s facilities for visiting yachts include laundry, recycling facilities, and electric vehicle charging.

A one stop shop

From repairs to regattas, chandleries and berthing, SYH is a thriving hub of marine activity.  With modern workshops and a suite of lifting and launching capabilities, SYH’s experienced in-house team is able to offer an array of services.  Marina users also have access to SYH’s 11 onsite businesses from sail making to rigging, electronic, stainless steel fabrication and sailing schools.

Fox's Marina based in Ipswich, Suffolk is a small, independently run marina offering great value berthing and storage for yachts and motorboats. As part of a large, working boatyard, we have extensive and skilled boat handling capability, as well as an experienced, in-house yacht refit and repair  team – so there are very few technical issues we can’t find a solution to!

Our friendly team offers a truly personal service to each and every one of our customers – calling upon our outstanding facilities, as well as our wide-ranging skillset to meet your needs and expectations. With extensive on-site facilities including two travel hoists and purpose built mast and spar racks for secure storage, as well as fuel, water, electricity, free Wifi, showers and toilets and CCTV, Fox’s Marina offers everything you need in one, convenient place.

Very accessible location on the River Orwell

Fox’s Marina is set in a very accessible location on the River Orwell in Ipswich within an area of outstanding natural beauty. Providing 100 pontoon berths, ashore storage for over 200 vessels, easy access at all states of the tide with no lock gates and extensive on site facilities, Fox’s Marina is secure, accommodating and perfectly equipped to provide a first class service. We’re also conveniently located for access by road (via A12 and A14) and rail, with Ipswich railway station under two miles away.

When it comes to our marina and yacht storage services, we aim to offer the most competitive pricing structure. We also offer great value yard services, including boat hoist, pressure wash, telehandler, forklift, and the collection or delivery of a vessel, as well as extras, such as electricity, disposal of waste oil, fuel and foreign gas cylinders, etc.

Fox's Marina is a TransEurope Marina . If you are a berth-holder with a minimum six month contract in one of the TransEurope member marinas, you can enjoy reciprocal berthing benefits when visiting one of the 84 TransEurope Marinas, located across 11 countries.

We offer a thorough range of marina and guardianage services for yacht and boat owners who are berthed here at Fox’s Marina. From a yacht club with catering to showers, toilets, and free Wi-Fi, we offer everything you might need during your stay, however long it may be. Of course, if you can’t find what you’re looking for, our friendly team are always on hand to assist.

Interior & exterior valeting services

We understand that you want your yacht or boat to be clean and looking it’s best at all times.

Here at Fox’s, we offer a comprehensive range of interior and exterior valeting services that will ensure that your vessel looks great and performs to the optimum standard. And, because we have an extensive range of on-site facilities and a multi-skilled workforce, if we find that any aspect of your vessel needs any extra care or attention, we’ll be perfectly equipped to provide a solution.

Commissioning & Layup

Keep your vessel in optimum condition.

Fox’s Marina & Boatyard continues to be the preferred commissioning base for a number of new boat builders and yacht manufacturers, including Beneteau and Oyster. Our on site rigging, electronics and engineering departments offer approved installations, servicing and commissioning health checks for the leading engine, rigging and electronics suppliers, whilst our extensive workshops and stainless fabrication departments can offer timely modifications and bespoke design solutions.

Our commissioning and layup services are available to all. Why not ensure that your yacht is kept safe, secure, and in optimum condition whilst not in use over the winter months, and is prepared ready to go when it’s time to take to the seas? Our comprehensive services can include thorough checks to the main engine, gearbox, plumbing and seacocks, testing of the generator, checks to rigging and sail handling systems, deck gear, winches, and much more.

Berthing, Storage & Yard Services Rates

Ashore storage including cradle per metre/per month, marina – per metre/per annum 1 january to 31 december, visitor – per metre/per day, hoist rates, haul/launch or load/unload per meter/per boat movement, haul, pressure wash and lay up per metre, short haul – lift and hold in slings for one hour and relaunch per metre.
