Sharing is caring!

Whether you’re craving a gourmet meal, eager for some swimming pool time, or mesmerized by the sight of an original model wood rollercoaster at the Boardwalk Inn or a gingerbread carousel at the Yacht Club at Christmas, Disney’s Boardwalk beckons with promises of magic and memories. Here, we’ll review the best restaurants at the Disney Boardwalk.

Rediscovering the Disney Boardwalk after 25 years (my first visit was for a medical conference) is like uncovering a treasure that has withstood the test of time and the waves of renovation, thriving in its ability to enchant visitors with its nighttime allure.

Conveniently located next to EPCOT and accessible by the whimsical Skyliner, the Boardwalk offers a hassle-free escape from the everyday.

Here, the choice to park your car or forego the rental entirely simplifies your adventure, allowing for leisurely strolls or serene boat rides from the parks to this enchanting esplanade. Each step is an invitation to unwind, indulge, and create new memories, an ideal spot for families, friends, and solo travelers alike.

Best Restaurants At The Disney Boardwalk

Its easy access and array of entertainment options make it a versatile choice for anyone eager to immerse themselves in the Disney magic, combined with the charm of a bygone era rejuvenated for today’s visitor. Whether you’re staying on-site or sampling the culinary delights that the Boardwalk has to offer, your journey here promises to be both memorable and perfectly tailored to your Disney experience.

The Boardwalk is a place where the day begins with the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and sizzling delights and ends with the culinary crescendo of world-class cuisine under a velvet sky.

Immersed in the thrills of Walt Disney World’s parks, it’s no surprise that the bustling Boardwalk reserves its prime culinary scenes for the bookends of your day. With breakfast and dinner being the peak times for these delightful eateries, you’re invited to kick-start your mornings with hearty breakfasts and wind down with dinners that boast an array of flavors. While midday adventures may call you away to the wonders of the parks, rest assured that a quick bite for lunch is always within reach, with a spread of comfort classics like pizza, chicken strips, and burgers waiting to fuel your next magical moment.

For those in the know, an easy, picturesque stroll around the lake and across the bridge along the Disney Boardwalk leads you directly into the heart of EPCOT. This convenient path is more than just a shortcut—it’s a scenic journey that drops you off right between the charm of the United Kingdom and the allure of France in the World Showcase.

So when you’re ready to exchange the relative serenity of the daytime Boardwalk for the vibrant energy of the parks, take this insider’s walkway and find yourself seamlessly transitioning from one enchanting experience to another. Or take the Skyliner over to Disney Springs for even more to see and do.

Our dining experience at the Big River Grille & Brewing Works was one to remember, with my savory salmon and my daughter’s perfectly cooked steak highlighting the day. Unfortunately, we’ve learned that this delightful spot has closed its doors.

The news comes with a touch of sadness, as we had looked forward to sharing more about our meal and the restaurant’s hearty American cuisine—ranging from towering burgers to succulent ribs, all paired wonderfully with their selection of brews, making it a spot we’ll fondly remember and surely miss. Meanwhile, the anticipation for the Cake Bake Shop’s opening continues. It remains a “coming soon” attraction on the Boardwalk, another spot for sweet treats and enchanting ambiance it promises to bring.

As you approach the Boardwalk Inn, the expansive architecture and welcoming aura instantly envelop you, evoking the grandeur and warmth of a plantation home stretched across the horizon. This majestic entrance sets the stage for an exhilarating journey into the heart of Disney’s nostalgic seaside resort.

Upon arrival, the thrill of discovery awaits, as the Boardwalk Inn proudly showcases its culinary jewels: the Flying Fish and Trattoria al Forno. These dining destinations offer an immersive experience into refined flavors and rustic charm.

Enjoy the convenience of a daytime pizza window, serving up slices of joy to guests eager to savor every moment of their stay. The anticipation of exploring these esteemed restaurants adds to the excitement of your arrival, promising a stay filled with delightful tastes and unforgettable memories at every turn.

The 13 Best Restaurants At The Disney Boardwalk

Flying fish.

2101 Epcot Resorts Blvd, Orlando, FL 32830 // (407) 939-5277

At the Flying Fish, out the back and down the stairs of the Boardwalk Inn, an atmosphere of upscale dining and nautical elegance immediately captivates diners.

This restaurant, renowned for its commitment to sustainability and fresh ingredients, turns each meal into a spectacle of culinary artistry. Here are more reasons why it’s one of the best restaurants at the Disney Boardwalk.

Here, the open kitchen adds a dash of theater to the evening, as chefs skillfully showcase their craft with dishes like the potato-wrapped snapper and oak-grilled salmon, celebrated for their freshness and flavor.

The ambiance, with its soft, elegant lighting of glass blown flying fish, creates a backdrop that’s both comforting and refined, perfect for friends or family gathered to share stories and indulge in a night of seafood excellence.

Be warned, though, as one of the restaurants of the BoardWalk Inn, children are present through most meal service and the tables by the bar or kitchen are high traffic and not conducive to quiet conversation.

The menu, a harmonious blend of innovation and tradition, features everything from seared scallops to the signature Flying Fish Café Potato-wrapped Red Snapper.

The start of your culinary journey is marked by an array of appetizers: the lobster bisque envelops the palate in warmth and creaminess though not the brilliant red you may be accustomed to the two bites of lobster were delicious, the Hawaiian Hamachi ignites zestful conversations, and the Slow Roasted Pork Belly recalls tales of southern charm.

Classics like the shrimp cocktail and inventive dishes like the oak-grilled romaine add layers of flavor and memory to their dining experience.

Insider Tip: Don’t hesitate to ask your server about the chef’s off-menu selections. You might be pleasantly surprised by the delightful culinary alternatives they present, tailor-made to enhance your dining experience.

As you delve into the entrees, you’ll find yourself on a vivid tour of tastes and tales. The Verlasso Salmon with “Lemon Bomba” Rice transports to coastal shores, while the Filet Mignon with truffle risotto ventures into luxurious realms.

Each dish, from the seafood trofie pasta to the char-crusted New York strip, is a canvas for shared memories and new discoveries, enhanced by selections of sautéed shrimp, cold water lobster tails, and seared scallops for an unforgettable dining experience.

Filet Mignon with rice at Flying Fish

I enjoyed the potato wrapped red snapper, trading out the leek fondue for grilled asparagus. The potato cooked like home fries from the skillet were a crispy alternative to the tender white fish.

Favorite daughter enjoyed the two bites of lobster and the octopus served as the accompaniment for the filet mignon and mushroom risotto. She opined that the octopus and risotto were the perfect combination, saving the filet for home another day.

The dessert menu will brighten many. As our lovely server, Mary, stated “It’s the sweetest part of the day other than spending it together.” The menu currently boasts a selection of dessert drinks, chocolate hazelnut bar, vanilla bean cheesecake, Florida sunset (sorbet assortment), Key Lime Cake, and a tasting of artisan cheeses.

Interesting for newcomers, the restrooms are through the AbracadaBAR (“the only thing truly to the right”), which also connects to the Trattoria, so when it’s raining outside, you can walk between them easily.

The atmosphere is friendly and more relaxed than the Yachtsman Steakhouse, for example, with more families and commotion making people watching one of the joys of the visit. And it was a $200 meal for the two of us with only one glass of wine and no dessert.

Trattoria al Forno

At Trattoria al Forno, the warmth of Italian hospitality envelops you as cherished friends, creating a circle of warmth and joy till the evening’s last candle flickers. Here’s why it’s one of the best restaurants at the Disney Boardwalk.

This isn’t merely a place to eat; it’s a venue where each meal becomes a ritual of connection, a shared journey through Italy’s culinary landscape, from the bustling streets of Rome to the serene countryside of Tuscany.

Breakfast at Trattoria al Forno ignites a day of adventure with a feast that brings comfort and delight in equal measure. Oak-grilled steak and eggs recall the robust flavors of a Tuscan sunrise, while sunrise breakfast pizza adds a playful twist to the morning.

The tiramisu bread pudding and buttermilk pancakes, fluffy and sweet, serve as a canvas for memories of Venetian afternoons.

Each dish, from the fresh Caprese omelet to the vibrant Florentine Frittata, is a moment to savor, an invitation to reflect on past travels and dream of new destinations. And, of course, no Disney dining experience would be complete without the magic of a Mickey-shaped waffle, reminding us of all that joy and wonder are indeed on the menu.

Lasagna at Trattoria al Forno

As the day transitions, the allure of Trattoria al Forno’s dinner experience draws you back to its welcoming embrace.

The evening begins with an array of appetizers that set the stage for a night of storytelling and gastronomic exploration. Calamari, a charcuterie board laden with flavors, and a Tuscan Salad Countryside introduce the meal with flair, while the Insalata Caprese and Caesar Salad pay homage to Italian traditions.

Entrees like the oak-grilled strip steak Florentine and the intricate layers of Lasagna al Forno (with beef and sausage) speak to the heart of Italian cuisine, each plate a narrative of flavor and history. The Pescato del Giorno and Truffle gnocchi, respectively, tell tales of the sea’s bounty and the earth’s richness.

And for those moments of simpler cravings, the restaurant’s pizza window reminds everyone that the essence of Italian dining is also found in the joy of a perfectly crafted slice, be it cheese or pepperoni, accompanied by a mini cannoli (or all four!) or a garden salad.

For breakfast and dinner, Trattoria al Forno offers not just meals, but memories, making every visit a cherished chapter in the story of your travels together.

Boardwalk Deli

As the afternoon sun casts a golden hue over Crescent Lake, you may find yourself at the Boardwalk Deli, a sure bet for a great sandwich midday. Formerly the BoardWalk Bakery , the space has been transformed for the savory items with the nearby Cake Bake Shop’s opening anticipated.

The Deli, with its inviting walk-in ambiance, beckons you to select from an array of heartwarming options. For a lighter start to the day, you might choose warm breakfast sandwiches, each a bundle of flavor and comfort, or perhaps allow yourselves to be tempted by the delicious pastries, their sweet aromas intermingling with the fresh lakeside air.

The specialty coffees stand ready to rouse the senses and warm the soul, crafting the perfect accompaniment to a serene morning.

Grilled Cheese Sandwich at Boardwalk Deli

As the day unfolds, lunch and dinner offer savory treasures such as the classic Italian sub, brimming with the zest of cured meats and cheeses, or the homey embrace of a grilled cheese sandwich.

The veggie crunch muffuletta is a fresh, vibrant option, while the warmth of a corned beef Reuben is like a familiar embrace. The roasted turkey sandwich, hearty and satisfying, can be accompanied by a choice of coleslaw, tangy tomato-basil soup, or crunchy pickles.

The lakeside tables outside provide a scenic backdrop to your meal, a place where to share stories, reflect on your day’s adventures, or simply enjoy the peaceful view. And as you finish your meal, sweet treats await, ready to end the experience on a note as delightful as the setting sun’s reflection on the lake’s serene waters. It’s definitely one of the best restaurants at the Disney Boardwalk.

Boardwalk Ice Cream Parlor

Expect to be tempted by the sweet allure of the Boardwalk Ice Cream Parlor. With its retro charm and array of modern delights, it’s the perfect spot for an afternoon treat that conjures memories of childhood while satisfying contemporary tastes, including options for those preferring soy-based frozen desserts. Here’s why it’s one of the best restaurants at the Disney Boardwalk.

Peruse the flavors, a vibrant palette from the timeless vanilla and rich chocolate to the zesty mint chocolate chip and the ever-popular cookies ‘n cream.

The rainbow sherbet offers a colorful twist, while butter pecan whispers of old-time tradition. For the coffee lovers, there’s a scoop that combines your favorite brew with creamy goodness, and for those watching their sugar intake, a no sugar added vanilla ensures everyone has a chance to indulge.

Brownie and Ice Cream at Boardwalk Ice Cream Parlor

Choosing from the menu’s delights, contemplate the Classic Wave, envisioning two generous scoops of your chosen flavors, or perhaps the Strawberry Splash Shortcake, a berry-infused dream.

The Bayside Brownie a la mode is a tempting fusion of warm brownie and cool ice cream, a combination that’s hard to resist.

As you mull over milkshakes that promise a frothy top and creamy depths, the “vintage beverages” may catch your eye.

Could there be anything more refreshing than a cherry limeade, a tropical orange seltzer, or the classic New York egg cream? With each option as enticing as the next, the Boardwalk Ice Cream Parlor proves to be a delightful dip into nostalgia with a twist that perfectly caps your leisurely lunch or nightcap treat.

Carousel Coffee

  2101 Epcot Resorts Blvd, Orlando, FL 32830 // (407) 939-1936

Nestled within the whimsical charm of Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, Carousel Coffee is the quintessential morning stop for early risers and afternoon pick-me-ups for those in need of a little warmth and comfort. Here’s why it’s one of the best restaurants at the Disney Boardwalk.

Open from 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM, this cozy nook is much more than a coffee shop—it’s a sanctuary where the rich, aromatic blends of coffee awaken the senses and the specialty coffees add a dash of luxury to your day.

For the tea aficionados, a selection of hot teas provides a soothing alternative, while the hot cocoa offers a sweet hug in a mug. Those looking for a spirited start can savor cordials and spirits, or toast to the day ahead with a crisp mimosa.

Ham and Cheese Crossant at Carousel Coffee

Carousel Coffee also caters to the nibblers and the noshers. With offerings like savory ham & cheese croissants that flake at the slightest touch, fresh fruit cups bursting with sweetness, and protein-packed hard-boiled eggs, your hunger is well-met from the grab and go wall. Don’t overlook the Greek yogurt parfait for a balance of creamy and crunchy textures that’s both nutritious and indulgent.

As you gear up for a day of Disney adventures or unwind from the morning’s excitement, Carousel Coffee is your go-to for both sustenance and indulgence, wrapped up in the magical atmosphere of the Boardwalk.

Main plates are the stars of the evening, with each dish telling its own story. The NY Strip steak is grilled to your specifications, the Lemon-Herb Half Chicken is fragrant and succulent, and the plant-based protein bowl caters to those seeking a meat-free option.

Seafood lovers will rejoice over the sustainable catch of the day, and the Pappardelle pasta and bacon and Vermont Cheddar burger speak to the soul of comfort food.

For a decadent finish, the Cabernet-braised short ribs and the New England Seafood pot pie are dishes that warm the heart.

Enhancements like truffle fries and sautéed broccolini are the finishing touches to a meal that’s both grounded in tradition and soaring with creativity. At the Ale & Compass Restaurant, every visit is a journey, and every dish is a destination.

Yacht Club The Market

https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/yacht-club-resort/ale-and-compass-market/

At the Yacht Club’s The Market, convenience sails alongside quality, offering a port of culinary delights for the traveler seeking swift sustenance. Here’s why it’s one of the best restaurants at the Disney Boardwalk.

Whether you’re returning from a day at the parks or just seeking a quick bite, this market-style dining provides an array of choices that promise to be as satisfying as they are convenient.

As you step inside, the aroma of gourmet oatmeal and fresh-baked pastries fills the air around the hot food counter, inviting you to start your day with warmth and sweetness.

The fruit cups, brimming with juicy selections, offer a refreshing option, while the “kids” corner cooler is a treasure trove of child-friendly picks that even adults can’t resist.

The shelves are lined with entrée salads and hot & cold sandwiches, ready to be enjoyed on the go or savored at the nearby patio. On those unpredictable Florida days when the rain pours, this covered haven is a serene spot to dine, overlooking the tranquil central green.

For those on the move, packaged snacks are a grab-and-go godsend, and specialty coffees provide that much-needed caffeine kick. The array of assorted beverages ensures that thirst is quenched with ease.

Cuban Sandwich at Yacht Club The Market

Come lunch and dinner, The Market doesn’t disappoint. The Cuban sandwich is a medley of flavors, pressed to crispy perfection, and the ham and cheddar sandwich is a reliable classic that never fails to satisfy. For a lighter touch, the grilled chicken is a healthful yet flavorful option.

The foot-long chili cheese all-beef hot dog is a treat for those with a hearty appetite, and the garden salad offers a crisp counterpoint for a balanced meal.

At The Market, you’ll find more than just quick service; you’ll discover a place where each offering is crafted with care, ensuring that even the simplest meal is a pleasurable experience.

It’s not just about feeding the hungry; it’s about providing a delightful pit stop where the food is fast, fresh, and always served with a side of Disney charm.

Yachtsman Steakhouse

For a birthday or other celebratory dinner that promises to be as memorable as it is delicious, The Yachtsman Steakhouse at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is the quintessential choice.

As you step into this refined establishment, the warmth of classic steakhouse ambiance greets you, setting the stage for an evening of culinary excellence.

The meal begins with an array of appetizers designed to awaken the palate and set the tone for the gastronomic journey ahead.

The Caesar Salad, with its crisp lettuce, shaved Parmesan, and crunchy croutons, offers a fresh start, while the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, featuring poached shrimp with a zesty house-made cocktail sauce, adds a touch of elegance.

For those who crave a bit more indulgence, the Steakhouse Wedge Salad, adorned with candied bacon, farmhouse eggs, radish, and a smoky blue cheese vinaigrette, is a symphony of flavors and textures.

The heart of The Yachtsman’s menu is, undoubtedly, its Butcher’s Cuts. The 8-oz Filet Mignon, my choice for the evening, promises to be a tender, flavorful centerpiece, accompanied by creamy mashed potatoes and a rich Bordelaise sauce.

For those seeking variety, the menu offers an array of enhancements, including Oscar-style topping or a half Maine Lobster Thermidor, each adding an extra layer of luxury to the already exquisite cuts of meat.

Fillet Mignon

Not to be overlooked, the Steakhouse Sauces, including a tantalizing Sauce Flight, allow diners to customize their steak experience with flavors ranging from classic Béarnaise to bold Peppercorn.

The Yachtsman also caters to those with a preference for seafood or plant-based dishes, ensuring that every guest finds something to delight in.

The Chilean Sea Bass and the Trumpet Mushroom “Scallop” stand out as thoughtful, beautifully prepared alternatives to steak. Favorite daughter chose the Chilean Sea Bass with a beautiful presentation including a lacy cheese like doily curvature that added both height and texture to the dish.

As the evening winds down, dessert becomes the pièce de résistance. Options like the Yachtsman Signature Chocolate Cake or the Cranberry-Vanilla Cheesecake offer a sweet conclusion to an unforgettable meal, each dessert a masterpiece of flavors and craftsmanship.

Dining at The Yachtsman Steakhouse is not just about celebrating another year; it’s about marking the occasion with an unparalleled dining experience, where every dish, from the appetizers to the desserts, is crafted with care, expertise, and a touch of Disney magic.

It’s an evening where the joy of fine dining and the warmth of shared stories come together, creating birthday memories that will linger long after the last bite. Definitely one of the best restaurants at the Disney Boardwalk.

Last Words: Best Restaurants At The Disney Boardwalk

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Review (Is it worth it?)

Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is one of the most beautiful and convenient hotels in all of Walt Disney World. With its classy design, enormous pool, and prime location, it’s easy to see why the Yacht Club at Disney World is such a highly sought after place to stay.

My family and I have visited numerous hotels on Disney property, but the Yacht Club always keeps us coming back for more. We love the close proximity to Disney’s Boardwalk, Epcot, and Hollywood Studios.

The multiple transportation options are a huge plus, especially for those who don’t like to solely rely on Disney buses. And of course we have to mention the Yacht Club’s pool, Stormalong Bay. This elaborate resort swimming area is arguably the best pool at the Walt Disney World Resort!

If you’re still not quite sold on the Yacht Club at Disney World or if you would like more information, continue reading below. In this post, we will cover everything you need to know about this deluxe Disney resort , including the activities, restaurants, and rooms available at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.

(This post may contain affiliate links. If you make a purchase through one of these links, I may receive a small compensation at no extra cost to you. Please see my disclosure policy at the bottom of this page for more details.)

Yacht Club Restaurants

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is full of all different types of restaurants. Since this hotel shares dining options with its sister resorts, you’ll find even more places to eat within a short walk of your room.

blue walls and club chairs with sign reading Ale and Compass Lounge

These are the Yacht Club restaurants you will find just a short stroll away:

  • Ale and Compass – sit-down restaurant in the Yacht Club that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner (also available to-go)
  • The Market at Ale and Compass – quick service restaurant at Yacht Club with to-go items and menu options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Yachtsman Steakhouse – fine dining restaurant at the Yacht Club that is open for dinner
  • Crew’s Cup Lounge – bar at the Yacht Club that features a small dinner menu and full bar
  • Cape May Cafe – offers a character meal breakfast buffet and sit-down dinner with no characters
  • Beach Club Marketplace – features to-go items and menu options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • Beaches and Cream – available for lunch and dinner with reservations highly recommended
  • Martha’s Vineyard – offers appetizers and full bar
  • Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar and Grill – pool restaurant with full bar and lunch/dinner options

Furthermore, the Yacht Club is located just a short walk away from Disney’s Boardwalk , where you’ll find additional restaurants and bars.

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is home to the most popular pool on Disney property. It’s such a hit that you’ll find cast members handing out wristbands at the entrance so that only hotel guests can enter.

pirate ship water slide

The main pool, Stormalong Bay, features a large sand bottom swimming area that’s super shallow and great for toddlers and little kids. There’s also a lazy river that’s a fan favorite in my household.

Guests can also enjoy other large swimming areas at Stormalong Bay, including an activities section where you’ll find games like pool volleyball. Stormalong Bay offers a large waterslide as well as a smaller slide that empties into a shallow pool.

empty pool and clubhouse at Yacht Club

In addition to Stormalong Bay, the Yacht Club in Disney World features a “quiet” pool that is seldom busy. This is a great spot to relax or swim laps.

Rooms

My family and I love the nautical decor and ambience of the Yacht Club guest rooms. Additionally, we appreciate that the rooms offer full balconies. In our post on Disney’s Beach Club vs Yacht Club , you’ll read about why these balconies are a major pro for Yacht Club compared to its sister resort.

toilet room, shower, and vanity and Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Disney’s Yacht Club features standard rooms and club level rooms. If you book a room with Club Level benefits, you get access to the Regatta Club. Here, you’ll find food and beverages offered at certain times throughout the day.

2 Queen beds and day bed at Yacht Club

Guest rooms at the Yacht Club come with views of the lake, pool, garden, or hotel rooftop/parking lot. These rooms typically feature 1 king bed or 2 queens. Some of them also offer a daybed. This means that if you book a room with 2 queens plus a daybed, you can sleep a family of five!

Prices at Yacht Club

Since Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is classified as a deluxe hotel at Disney World, you’ll notice that the prices are higher than at some of the other hotels. This is because the Yacht Club offers deluxe room space, extra amenities, and a prime location.

We will explain all the significance of all of these perks in more detail below, but it’s important to note that Disney’s Yacht Club truly offers a deluxe experience. The updated guest rooms feature plenty of space, including private balconies. Plus, the hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of other Disney hotels, restaurants, theme parks, and more.

Disney's Yacht Club Resort

If you would really like to experience the location, amenities, and entertainment at the Yacht Club without the hefty price tag, we suggest booking a room at the sister hotel through David’s Vacation Club Rentals. You will be blown away by the cost savings on David’s DVC rental site! We usually save hundreds of dollars per night by using this method to book a room at a deluxe resort.

Just use the cost calculator to see exactly how much a room costs at Yacht Club’s sister resort, Disney’s Beach Club Villas. These villas are located just a short walk away from the Yacht Club hotel, and they both share restaurants, pools, and activities. While you can reserve one of the villas on the official Disney website, we prefer to book through David’s DVC rental website . We have used this reputable company for years to rent timeshare points at Disney villas.

Things to Do at Disney’s Yacht Club

Disney’s Yacht Club Resort sits on the same property as two sister resorts: Disney’s Beach Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Villas. These three hotels share restaurants, activities, amenities, and entertainment options with each other.

sand bottom pool with Disney's Yacht Club in background

One of my family’s favorite things about the Yacht Club is that you don’t need to leave the property to have fun. So, if you’re looking for activities at Disney outside of the theme parks, the Yacht Club offers lots of great options. These are our favorite things to do at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort when enjoying a relaxing day at Disney:

See Epcot Fireworks

We recommend walking to the bridge that connects the Disney Boardwalk to the Yacht and Beach Club Resort to enjoy the nightly Epcot fireworks show. You can even grab some ice cream to enjoy during the presentation.

Take a Ride on the Skyliner

Since the Disney Skyliner sits just outside of Epcot’s International Gateway entrance, you can easily access it from the Yacht Club Resort. Just take the short (less than ten minutes) walk toward Epcot and hop on the Skyliner for free!

Book a fishing excursion on Crescent Lake for a truly unique experience while staying at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.

Eat Ice Cream

Disney’s Yacht Club is home to one of our favorite WDW restaurants, Beaches and Cream . While reservations can be difficult to snag at this popular dining spot, you can access the walk-up window to order shakes and ice cream to-go.

Dine with Characters

Check out Cape May Cafe during breakfast/brunch when it becomes Minnie’s Beach Bash. Guests can meet Goofy, Minnie, and Donald while they dine at the breakfast buffet.

Float along the Lazy River

The Beach Club’s main pool, Stormalong Bay, offers many fun features. One of our favorite things to do at the pool is to grab (free) tubes to float along the lazy river.

Play Games in the Arcade

Lafferty Place Arcade offers lots of fun games for kids and adults to enjoy. This is a particularly great place to spend time at Disney World when it’s raining.

Ride the Friendship Boats

The Disney water taxi picks up visitors near the Yacht Club. You can ride this free boat to the Disney Boardwalk, Swan and Dolphin Resorts, Epcot entrance, and Hollywood Studios entrance.

Build Sandcastles

Did you know that Stormalong Bay features a shallow, sand bottom pool and beach area? Kids love digging in the sand and splashing around in this section of the pool.

Make S’mores

Visit the nightly campfire to roast marshmallows during your visit. You can even purchase S’mores Kits for a few dollars.

Rent a Boat

Spend time on Crescent Lake on your own private pontoon boat. Guests can rent boats from the marina near the Yacht Club.

Disney’s Yacht Club offers a large fitness center for guests to use during their stay. Ship Shape Health Club is even open 24 hours a day, so you can squeeze in a workout at any time.

Stroll along the Disney Boardwalk

The Disney Boardwalk is full of amazing activities and entertainment options and is just a short walk away from the Yacht Club.

Play Volleyball

As you walk along the boardwalk in front of the Beach Club, you’ll notice a sand volleyball court. This is a great spot to pick up a game with friends or family. You can also often join a game of volleyball at Stormalong Bay Pool.

Enjoy an Evening Movie

Each evening, Disney Yacht Club guests can watch a movie under the stars. These family friendly movies are a great way to unwind after a long day.

Play Mini Golf

Stroll over to Fantasia Gardens and Miniature Golf Course where you’ll find two 18-hole courses. This fun spot is located near the Dolphin and Swan Resorts.

Swim Some Laps

If you’re looking for a quieter poolside experience to swim laps or relax, check out the leisure pool at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. You’ll also have access to the quiet pools at Beach Club and Beach Club Villas.

If you’re not into running or jogging on vacation, you can spend time strolling along the jogging paths at the Yacht Club. You’ll find lots of great spots to take pictures and may even catch some surprises along the way.

Join a Kid Friendly Party at the Pool

Each afternoon, Stormalong Bay hosts fun poolside activities like hula hoop competitions and limbo.

Play Tennis

Guests can find tennis courts near the Yacht Club’s quiet pool.

Zoom Down Waterslides

Stormalong Bay features two separate water slides for guests to enjoy. The main waterslide stretches from the pirate ship and across the Beach Club boardwalk to the main pool.

You’ll also find a smaller slide that’s perfect for toddlers and small kids at the entrance to the main water slide.

Book a Fireworks Cruise

Take in the sights and sounds of the Epcot fireworks show from your pontoon boat on Crescent Lake.

Transportation

As mentioned above, Disney’s Yacht Club Resort sits in a prime location in the center of all the magic at WDW. If you’re planning to visit one of the theme parks, you’ll be happy to know that several of them are just a super short walk or ride away.

hotel lobby with seating areas

These are our preferred ways to get from Disney’s Yacht Club to other places in Walt Disney World:

  • To Magic Kingdom – You can access the Disney buses in front of the hotel. The ride to Magic Kingdom should take 15-20 minutes.
  • To Epcot – Exit the back of Yacht Club (toward Crescent Lake) and turn left. Epcot sits just under a ten minute walk away!
  • To Hollywood Studios – You have several options for getting to Hollywood Studios. We find the quickest option *usually* is walking. Hollywood Studios sits just a 15 minute walk away from the Yacht Club. You can also ride a Friendship Boat to Hollywood Studios. However, by the time you wait on the boat to make stops, this method can take longer than walking. You could also walk toward Epcot to catch the Disney Skyliner. With this method, you should be able to reach Hollywood Studios in around 25 minutes.
  • To Animal Kingdom – You can hop on one of the Disney buses to get to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. This is roughly a ten-minute ride.
  • To Disney’s Boardwalk – You can make the five-minute walk around Crescent Lake to easily reach the Disney Boardwalk. Guests can also take the Friendship Boat from the Yacht Club lighthouse and ride across the lake to the Boardwalk.
  • To Disney Springs – You can take a bus to Disney Springs, which typically takes 15-20 minutes.

Is Disney’s Yacht Club Worth It?

Since Disney’s Yacht Club may be my personal favorite resort in all of WDW , I would definitely say it’s worth the cost! I love the classy guest rooms and bathrooms with their nautical decor.

The lobby seems to be quieter and calmer than that at other resorts, and the cast members are super friendly and helpful. My family and I enjoy the food at all the restaurants on site, and we appreciate the ability to easily walk from the Yacht Club to the Beach Club’s dining options.

pin for Disney's Yacht Club Resort

The close proximity to Epcot makes the Yacht Club an ideal place to stay since there’s no rush to get to the park in the morning or back “home” at the end of a long day. Plus, you enter and exit through the International Gateway entrance to Epcot (near World Showcase), so the lines to enter are basically nonexistent.

Additionally, Disney’s Hollywood Studios is just a short walk, boat ride, or Skyliner ride away. And if you feel like venturing out, you can take the scenic stroll around Crescent Lake to the Disney Boardwalk.

Mickey Visit – Ultimate Disney Planning Guide

Best Disney World Resort Hotel Restaurants RANKED- We Visit Multiples Times Per Month!

Best Disney World Resort Restaurants

Although Disney World's theme parks have plenty of incredible restaurants, there are even more amazing restaurants located at the various Disney World resorts . Even if you are not a guest of a Disney World resort hotel, you are able to dine and enjoy any of their restaurants during your vacation. Each Disney World resort has at least one quick service restaurant option, and some resorts have sit-down table service restaurants, including several with character meet and greets.

I am a Disney World annual passholder, Florida resident, and visit Disney World several times each month. There are so many resort restaurants to choose from and it can be difficult to pick which reservation to make for your next trip to Disney World.

I will list our favorite Disney World resort hotel restaurants and explain why we enjoy them so much. We rank our favorite resort hotel restaurants in several categories including the best quick service and table restaurants, best resort hotel restaurants with character meet and greets, best “upscale” dining experiences, and more!

Our Favorite Disney World Resort Hotel Restaurants

Best Disney World Resort Restaurants

This article will rank the top three of our favorite Disney World resort hotel restaurants within several different categories. These categories include:

  • Best table service hotel restaurants:  These restaurants are your typical table service restaurants. We almost always recommend getting a reservation for table service restaurants (especially for our favorites listed below), because they tend to be extremely busy. If you are not able to get a reservation, sometimes you can join a walk-up list using the My Disney Experience app if there is capacity available.
  • Best character dining hotel restaurants: This category includes the best restaurants where you can meet some of your favorite characters while you dine. The character dining restaurants are typically table service with a family style, buffet, or prix fixe menu. We definitely recommend getting reservations for any character dining restaurant throughout all of Disney World property as they are typically the busiest.
  • Best quick service resort restaurants: Every Disney World resort has a quick service restaurant available, and we will rank our favorites in this section. You never need a reservation for quick service restaurants throughout Disney World. You can even pre-order your food for easy pick-up or to go using the My Disney Experience mobile app. If you plan on dining at resort quick service restaurants frequently, we recommend picking up a refillable mug souvenir for unlimited refills on soda, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate throughout your trip.
  • Best hotel “upscale” restaurants: For a more upscale or romantic dining experience, check out this section for our must do restaurants at Disney World resorts. Unlike most restaurants throughout Disney World, these restaurants typically have a dress code. The dress code is not strict, however, it's important to consider before dining at these restaurants as clothing must be clean, neat, and in good condition. They do not allow swimwear or other inappropriate clothing in these upscale restaurants.
  • Honorable mentions:  We will wrap up our list with some honorable mentions that are worth visiting but may not make our top choices or perfectly fit into the other categories.

Best Table Service Resort Hotel Restaurants

Best Disney World Resort Restaurants

The following three restaurants are our favorite table service restaurants located at the Disney World resorts. As mentioned, we highly recommend reservations for table service restaurants due to their popularity. Most of the table service restaurants fit the overall theme of the resort and offer food that would make sense for the theme (i.e. African-inspired food at the Animal Kingdom Lodge resorts). All of the table service restaurants offer great food, however, these are our favorites!

3. Olivia's Café – Old Key West Resort

Olivia's Café, located at Disney's Old Key West Resort, is open daily for brunch between 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM and dinner between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM. We feel Olivia's is an extremely underrated table service restaurant that has both great food and a laid back but unique atmosphere. Olivia's is described as “hearty home cooking with a taste of the Florida Keys at this hidden gem.” If you look around the restaurant, you will see hundreds of framed photos of guests visiting Disney World throughout the past decades, which is a cool detail and definitely makes this restaurant feel homey.

Best Disney World Resort Restaurants

At my most recent dinner experience at Olivia's, a friend ordered the Southernmost Buttermilk Chicken entrée and described it as one of the best fried chicken dishes she'd ever had. I personally enjoyed the West Indian Tofu and Coconut Curry entrée which had a lot flavor but wasn't too spicy.

Best Disney World Resort Restaurants

Olivia's also has a variety of food allowing everyone in your group to find something they'd enjoy, including prime rib, shrimp scampi, and a cheese and charcuterie entrée. The great service, laid back atmosphere, and delicious food makes Olivia's one of our top 3 Disney resort table service restaurants.

2. Ale & Compass – Yacht Club Resort Hotel

ale and compass disney world

Ale & Compass is located inside Disney's Yacht Club Resort which is located steps away from Disney's BoardWalk area , a quarter-mile promenade of unique nightlife, restaurants, and bars. Ale & Compass is a more upscale dining experience but offers a variety of delicious food and drinks at a relatively low cost.

Ale & Compass is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner between 7:30 AM and 11:00 AM, 11:45 AM to 2:00 PM, and between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM. Although it may look fancy on the inside, Ale & Compass actually has a lot of different food options that don't break the bank.  The most expensive item on the dinner menu is a $36 New York Strip steak dinner which comes with delicious truffle fries, house-made steak sauce, and a Watercress salad. Our server highly recommended the Cabernet-braised short ribs which were also a big hit with our group. We also love the chicken pot pie which has a flakey crust and the rolls.

As previously mentioned, the location of Ale & Compass is another reason why we love this restaurant besides the delicious food and atmosphere. If you're looking to continue the fun after dinner, you can simply walk outside to the BoardWalk to enjoy ice cream, additional drinks at one of several bars, or simply a nice stroll around the BoardWalk. You can read more about the BoardWalk and the various restaurants and lounges in our Disney Boardwalk restaurants guide .

1. Sanaa – Animal Kingdom Resort Hotel – Kidani Village

Our favorite table service restaurant has to be Sanaa, located at Disney's Animal Kingdom Resort . This resort has amazing and unique African and Indian foods and is located within a beautiful location right outside the Sunset Savanna. That's right, you can spot giraffes, zebras, birds, and other animals roaming around right outside the windows as you dine. Sanaa offers lunch between 11:30 AM and 3:00 PM and dinner between 5:00 PM and 9:30 PM. There is also a Kuamsha Breakfast which does not require reservations, however, we specifically chose Sanaa as our favorite table service restaurant due to the lunch and dinner options.

Best Disney World Resort Restaurants

If you make the wise choice to dine at Sanaa, the Indian-style Bread Service appetizer is a MUST do. This service comes with your choice of five breads or Naan (as well as gluten-free and vegan bread upon request) with nine accompanying dipping sauces ranging in various flavors. This bread service alone is worth dining at Sanaa, but their entrees are also delicious.

Overall, the location and animal viewing, beautiful atmosphere, and unique foods made Sanaa an easy choice for our favorite table service restaurant at a Disney World resort.

Best Character Dining Resort Restaurants

Best Disney World Resort Restaurants

Next up are our favorite Disney World resort restaurants that offer character dining experiences. Please note that not all resort restaurants have character meet and greets at each meal, and some are only open during specific meals. However, reserving at least one character meal is a great idea, especially with children, as it is a very convenient way to meet characters without having to spend time in line at the parks to meet various characters.

3. ‘Ohana – Polynesian Village Resort

Disney's Polynesian Village Resort is one of my favorite resorts for so many reasons, one of which is their ‘Ohana restaurant located on the second floor of the main lobby, known as the Great Ceremonial House. ‘Ohana is open for breakfast between 7:30 AM and 12:15 PM and dinner between 3:30 PM and 10:00 PM. Although character dining only occurs during breakfast, it is such a fun experience for the whole family. Guests get to meet Stitch, Lilo, Mickey, and Pluto while taking photos and receiving autographs. There is also a very cute “conga line” that periodically goes through the restaurant where children can play instruments and dance along with Mickey and friends.

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

In addition to the character experiences, the food is also delicious! It is “family style” where you can order as much food as you'd like, so definitely come hungry. Their pineapple-coconut bread is one of our favorites, along with the delicious POG juice, which combines orange, passion fruit, and guava juice.

Best Disney World Resort Restaurants

If you're lucky enough to get a table by the window, you can get some great views of the Polynesian's resort pool, along with Cinderella's castle in the background. Overall, this is definitely a great character dining experience we recommend for guests of all ages.

Best Disney World Resort Restaurants

2. Story Brook Dining at Artist Point – Wilderness Lodge

Although you can usually meet Snow White at EPCOT, a fairly rare character greeting is with any of the Seven Dwarves and the Evil Queen. You can meet Grumpy, Dopey, Snow White, and the Evil Queen while dining on delicious food at the Artist Point restaurant at the beautiful Wilderness Lodge Resort.

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

Artist Point is open for dinner between 4:00 PM and 9:00 PM and offers a three course prix fixe menu with shared appetizers for the table, an entrée of each guest's choice, and shared desserts. There is also a very cool presentation of “The Hunter's Gift to the Queen” dessert, which is a box of chocolate hearts that when opened, leaks out smoke.

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

During dinner, besides getting to meet and greet with the various characters, there are also a few fun shows that incorporate the beautifully lit trees within the restaurant which give a more modern enchanted woods feel. We really enjoyed the characters, food presentation, and overall atmosphere of Artist Point which makes it another great character dining option at a Disney World resort.

1. Topolino's Terrace- Riviera Resort

Located on the top of the beautiful Riviera Resort, Topolino's (which translates to Mickey Mouse's Italian name) comes in at number one for our favorite character dining experience at a Disney World resort restaurant. This restaurant has it all amazing food, adorable character meet and greets with your favorite classic Disney characters, as well as breathtaking views from the top of the Riviera Resort. Topolino's is also conveniently located on the Skyliner, which makes it a perfect breakfast option to fuel up before you head to EPCOT or Hollywood Studios for the day.

Best Disney World Resort Restaurants

Similar to ‘Ohana, Topolino's Terrace has family-style character dining during breakfast hours only between 7:30 AM and 12:15 PM. However, they also have an eloquent and French and Italian-inspired dinner served between 5:00 PM and 9:30 PM. After your meal, be sure to step out onto the terrace to enjoy the views of the Riviera Resort's pool and outdoor areas as well as views of the Skyliner and EPCOT.

You can see our full Topolino's Terrace review for everything you need to know about our experience dining here!

Best Quick Service Resort Restaurants

This section details our top three favorite quick service restaurants located at Disney World Resorts. Most quick service resort restaurants offer the general same types of foods, however, some have interesting theming, convenient locations, or specialty dishes that we will include below.

3. Everything POP – POP Century Resort

Of all of the value-priced resorts, our favorite quick service restaurant is the Everything POP quick service restaurant at POP Century Resort. This resort appears to have the widest variety and best tasting foods of the value resorts which makes it our favorite.

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

Everything POP is open daily between 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM and has something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Our favorite breakfast options include the Loaded Totcho Bowl or Vanilla Pancakes. For lunch and dinner, they serve a variety of burgers, sandwiches, pizza, pasta, and more. For a quick meal at a low cost, POP Century's Everything POP quick service restaurant is our go to option.

2. Centertown Market – Caribbean Beach Resort

Our number two ranked quick service resort restaurant is the Centertown Market located at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. This quick service restaurant offers a Latin and Caribbean inspired menu which is unique and tasty. They are open between 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM offering guests breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. A couple of our favorite entrée options include the Arroz Mamposteao and the Caribbean Plant-Based sausage, black beans, and rice bowl.

Best Disney World Resort Restaurants

1. Capt. Cook's – Polynesian Village Resort

We're headed back to the Polynesian Village Resort for our favorite quick service restaurant – Capt. Cook's, located on the first floor of the Great Ceremonial House. This is one of the smaller quick service restaurants, however there is indoor and outdoor seating near the pool area which we tend to enjoy. More importantly, they arguably have the best food out of all the resort quick service restaurants.

Capt. Cook's is open from 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily and has amazing offerings for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our absolute favorite breakfast is the Tonga Toast, which is banana-stuffed sourdough bread, battered, deep-fried, and dusted with cinnamon sugar. For lunch or dinner, the Pan-Asian Noodles and Vegetables dish is also highly recommended, but anything off their menu you will be sure to enjoy. Additionally, if you are looking for a delicious dessert, you can walk around the corner to visit the Pineapple Lanai stand, which offers various types of DOLE whip.

Best “Upscale” Resort Restaurants

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

Lastly, we will list our top three upscale dining experiences you can find at the Disney World resort restaurants. Although these are typically not as unique or interesting as some of the themes and overall atmosphere as the other restaurants, the food is typically top notch and can be a fun date night or special occasion during your trip. Our top three favorites are included below!

3. Victoria & Albert's – Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

Not too surprisingly, the Grand Floridan Resort and Spa has one of our favorite upscale restaurants, Victoria & Albert's. It's always a treat to even walk around the Grand Floridian, yet alone dine there at such a beautiful restaurant. Victoria & Albert's has won numerous awards and accolades including the AAA Five Diamond Award since 2000, Forbes Travel Guide Five Star since 2018, Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence, and Florida Trend Golden Spoon Hall of Fame – American Regional award.

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

The one downside of Victoria & Albert's is the availability to get a reservation as it is only open from about 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM daily, and is a long prix fixe menu dining experience. However, it is easily one of the best and more beautiful Disney World restaurants throughout all of Disney World property.

2. Yachtsman Steakhouse – Yacht Club Resort

Another upscale yet rustic resort restaurant is the Yachtsman Steakhouse, located at Disney's Yacht Club Resort. This restaurant is only open for dinner between 5:00 PM and 9:30 PM daily. Similar to the theme of the resort, the New England-style Yachtsman Steakhouse offers fine American dining including steaks, fresh seafood, and more.

Best Disney World Resort Restaurants

Yachtmans Steakhouse's high-quality beef is prepared on an oak-fired grill in their open kitchen, and guests can watch their butchers cut the steaks in the dry-aging room. It truly feels like an upscale dining experience from the moment you walk through the front door.

1. California Grill – Contemporary Resort

california grill looking at fireworks

The California Grill at the Contemporary Resort is our favorite restaurant for special occasions, celebrations, and a truly unique Disney World resort dining experience. The best part about California Grill is the amazing views of the Magic Kingdom. If you time your reservations correctly, you can even watch the fireworks from the restaurant. When the fireworks start, the lights dim as the music is piped into the restaurant, immersing guests into the magic of the night in the comfort of the restaurant.

california grill disney world

California Grill is open for dinner each night between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM and offers an award-winning prix fixe three-course menu with one appetizer, entrée, and dessert. Guests over 21 can also choose from a wide assortment of hand-picked wines, most of which are of course from California. The views are a meal in themselves. Watching sunset and then the fireworks from here is perhaps the most upscale experience you can have at Walt Disney World.

california grill dining

Dining at the California Grill is the quintessential example of fine dining at Disney World which is why it takes the number one spot as our favorite upscale Disney World resort restaurant.

Honorable Mentions

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

Scat Cat's Club Café – Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter

If you haven't explored or stayed at the Port Orleans Resort, I highly recommend it. You truly feel as if you've stepped into the streets of New Orleans, and you can even often spot horse-drawn carriages giving guests rides throughout the property.

More importantly, you can find delicious beignets and other treats at the Scat Cat's Club Café, located inside the main lobby of the Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter.

Best Disney World Resort Restaurants

The Scat Cat's Club Cafe is open daily between 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM and is always a standby queue with no reservations or mobile orders. Currently, this restaurant is the only place you can purchase beignets on all of Disney World property (but we're hoping that changes when Tiana's Bayou Adventure opens at Magic Kingdom). They always offer classic Mickey-shaped beignets with various dipping sauces as well as various specialty beignets, which mostly recently were hot cocoa flavored. For those 21 and over, you can also enjoy Baton Rouge Beignets which are made with your choice of Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur, Kahlua Liqueur, or RumChata Liqueur. Scat Cat's Club also serves coffee and other beverages to enjoy.

Whispering Canyon – Fort Wilderness Lodge

Another honorable mention and favorite table service restaurant is Whispering Canyon Café, located inside the Wilderness Lodge Resort. This restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner between 7:30 AM and 11:25 AM, 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM, and between 5:00 PM and 10:00 PM. Whispering Canyon offers hearty Western fare including all you can eat skillets and “shenanigans.”

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

The shenanigans is definitely true, as the restaurant can get pretty rowdy with the servers picking on their guests. During our last visit, our waitress named “Anita Margarita” told us if we needed any ketchup, we had to scream for it!

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

Once we did, a nearby table brought us every single bottle of ketchup in the restaurant. When the next table needed ketchup, the parade continued and we were responsible for carrying every bottle to the next table. If you are into similar shenanigans as well as hearty western food, this is a great option.

Disney Dining Plan

Best Disney World Resort Restaurants

If you haven't heard the good news, Disney World's Disney Dining Plan recently returned on January 9, 2024. If you plan on dining at any of the Disney World restaurants either in the theme parks or at the various resorts, I highly recommend considering the dining plan. We list all of the restaurants included in the 2024 Disney Dining Plans in our Disney Dining Plan guide .

There are two different plans Disney World offers:

  • Disney Quick Service Dining Plan:  This plan is for groups who are only interested in dining at quick service restaurants throughout Disney World. No reservations are required for any of the quick service restaurants and can be a convenient option, especially with young children. There are over 100 quick service locations throughout Disney World. Everyone over the age of 3 on the quick service dining receives two quick service meals, one snack or non-alcoholic drink, and one resort refillable mug per each night of stay. Beverages are included with each meal, and guests over 21 years old may substitute for beer, wine, and cocktails. Meals and snacks can be redeemed at any time during your stay, and expire at midnight on the day of checkout.
  • Disney Dining Plan:  The Disney Dining Plan is similar to the quick service plan, but includes one table service meal, including character dining meals. Each person over the age of three on this plan receives one quick service meal, one table service meal, one snack or nonalcoholic drink, and one resort refillable mug. All of the same rules apply to this plan, the main difference is the option of having one table service meal each day instead of two quick service meals. If you choose this option, make sure to make as many reservations for table service meals as possible in order to confirm availability.

The Disney Dining Plan can not only be a great option for groups interested in dining at the various restaurants throughout Disney World but can bring much peace of mind financially while taking on the large task of planning a Disney World vacation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, all Disney World resorts have restaurants. However, the value resorts only have quick service restaurants, or cafeteria-style. These restaurants have a variety of food and drink options at breakfast, lunch, and dinner and are typically open from 7 AM to 11 PM. All Disney World quick service restaurants also sell refillable mugs that can be used for unlimited refills at most Disney resorts including soda, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Quick service restaurants do not require reservations and also allow mobile ordering using the My Disney Experience mobile app.

No, you do not have to stay at a Disney resort to eat at the restaurants. No matter where you are staying, you can make a reservation or walk into any Disney World resort restaurant. However, we highly recommend making a reservation at any of the table service or character dining restaurants as they are typically very busy. Additionally, when the parking lots for Disney World resorts are busy and near capacity, security will sometimes require guests to either have a resort or restaurant reservation in order to park at the resort.

No, you cannot eat breakfast at ANY Disney hotel, because some are not open for breakfast. All quick service resort restaurants are open for breakfast, however, some character dining and table service dining restaurants are only open for lunch and dinner. However, you are allowed to dine any Disney hotel, as long as it's open. You are not required to be a Disney resort guest in order to dine at their restaurants. However, reservations to Disney World restaurants are highly recommended due to their popularity.

A Progressive Date at Disney’s BoardWalk

' src=

Disney’s BoardWalk is arguably one of the best date night spots on Disney property. The picturesque boardwalk that transports you to a seaside town in New England becomes even more romantic as the sun goes down. There are plenty of ways to fill your night here and it can be hard to pick just a couple. Here's our itinerary for exploring the best of Disney's BoardWalk on a progressive date night.

Updated August 2024 by Meghan Roth

Date Night at Disney's Boardwalk

Start with drinks.

Choose one of these locations to enjoy a drink at the beginning of your night.

Belle Vue Lounge If you walk through the hotel lobby to get to the BoardWalk, head down the hallway to your right for a laid-back lounge with a relaxed atmosphere. Modeled after a 1930s drawing room, this cozy little spot is perfect for soaking up the seaside breeze with a glass of wine in hand.

If you feel like stirring up some competition, settle into a comfy couch in the drawing room and challenge your partner to a board game. Or, order a drink and sit outside on the porch to people watch. Hours: 4pm–12am

AbracadaBar Located on the right-hand side of the BoardWalk, this is a favorite place for many. BoardWalk tales say that this bar is where the magicians and illusionists would gather after their performances to compare tricks and create new cocktails. The enchantment is apparent inside this space. Cozy up to the bar and order one of their magic-themed drinks, like a Magic Hattan, a Hoodunit’s Punch or the ever-mysterious Pepper’s Ghost. Hours: 4pm–12am

RELATED: Best Places to Grab a Beer at Walt Disney World

Main Course

Flying Fish Recently redesigned with an open kitchen, this seasonal seafood restaurant embodies luxury dining. For every dish, the presentation is key. There is a chef’s counter which lets you peek into the kitchen as your food is prepared.

If you choose to have your main course here, we highly recommend making reservations and checking out the dress code beforehand. Hours: 5pm-9:30pm

Flying Fish at Disney's BoardWalk

Trattoria al Forno If you prefer the cozy romance of a traditional Italian trattoria, this laid-back restaurant is the place to be. Think exposed brick, a warm show kitchen, and a wine list composed exclusively of Italian wines.

According to Disney legend, the trattoria was once a boarding house and tavern, owned by an Italian family on the boardwalk. Their authentic regional dishes and hand-picked Italian wines were so popular, the space was converted, room by room, into a full-blown restaurant.

Each room has a slightly different feel, so feel free to request a table to suit your mood. Try the Sala de Pranzo for a lively atmosphere, or the Taverna for a more intimate dinner date. Hours: 5pm–10pm

Yachtsmen Steakhouse Located at Disney's Yacht Club, Yachtsmen Steakhouse is a signature Disney restaurant beloved by many. It is a ten-minute walk around Cresent Lake from Disney's BoardWalk and a great alternative on our itinerary if you're looking to really explore the area.

As you might have guessed, hand-cut steaks are the star of the show here, and there is a fantastic selection of seafood and other options too. The atmosphere is very date night worthy, so get a little dressed up and enjoy the experience. Hours: 5pm–9:30pm

BoardWalk Deli Short on time? Build your own delicious picnic at the BoardWalk Deli, the newest addition to Disney’s BoardWalk. This nostalgic quick-service spot serves up “delectably delightful” pastries, hot or cold sandwiches, salads, and sides to go. You can even grab drinks, if you like! We’re especially keen on the playful cocktails, like the Social Hour Sunkissed Fizz. This summery blend of vodka, yuzu, peach, key lime, and jasmine is perfect for balmy evenings on the BoardWalk.

Pack a blanket for maximum picnic enjoyment, and spread out on the sandy shore of the Beach Club next door. To get there, exit the BoardWalk Deli, turn right, and continue around Lake Crescent until you hit the beach. Hours: 7am–10pm

Coming Soon: Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs

Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs currently serves Hand-dipped Corn Dogs and other unique Corn Dog creations over in Disneyland at the Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs kiosk in Downtown Disney.

This new location will serve some favorites from Disneyland Resort as well as brand-new items exclusive to Disney's BoardWalk.

  • Mexican Street Corn Dog
  • Lemonade and Strawberry Lemonade (Non-alcoholic beverages)
  • Fresh Spun Cotton Candy

After Dinner Fun

After indulging in all the food and drinks, take a break and let your food digest by visiting one of these game stops.

BoardWalk games Throughout Disney's BoardWalk, you'll find various midway games and live entertainers, such as free throw shooting, ring toss, jugglers, magicians, and more. Take some time to explore!

Surrey Bikes Rent a 2-person surrey bike for half an hour to travel around the BoardWalk and burn some calories. Surrey bike rental costs around $25 per half hour. The bike rental station is located right in the middle of the BoardWalk.

Important note – ESPN Club is permanently closed. A new restaurant focused on sweets is in development.

BoardWalk Ice Cream What was once home to Ample Hills Creamery, is now simply named BoardWalk Ice Cream. This classic ice cream parlor offers awesome sundaes and shakes, as well as simple scoops of ice cream.

The vintage style beverages like the classic Egg Cream and Cherry Limeade are an affordable date idea. Currently, the only plant-based options are soy-based chocolate and vanilla. Hours: 3pm–11pm

BoardWalk Treats Just like there are games scattered around the BoardWalk, there is also food! And we all know fried, greasy fair food is the best. So, grab a funnel cake and enjoy!

Coming Soon: The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers Expected to open in 2024, this whimsical full-service restaurant will feature sweet and savory eats, dreamy desserts, and a lavish afternoon tea service. Stop in for a sweet bite and a glass of French bubbles in the pastel-hued tea room. The Cake Bake Shop features dozens of desserts made with the finest ingredients. All cakes are made in-house daily, and you can also order pies made from scratch, cheesecakes, cookie bars, french pastries, and ice cream. Pair your treats with champagne, elegant specialty cocktails, or imaginative espresso drinks.

The shop even has its own exclusive blend of French rosé bubbles, created in partnership with Jean-Charles Boisset! Try Gwendolyn’s Famous Earl’s Court Chocolate Cake, an award-winning signature recipe beloved by the likes of Dick Van Dyke, Ina Garten, and Elton John.

Continue the Night

Jellyrolls Probably the most famous spot on Disney’s BoardWalk is Jellyrolls, a dueling piano bar. While the cover to get in might seem a little expensive, it is definitely worth the cost. It’s a little bit tamer than your usual non-Disney piano bar, but the piano players are incredibly talented.

The bar can become standing room only as everyone wanders over after visiting EPCOT, or after watching the fireworks . And the later it gets, the better the music and environment become. Request one of these songs for a truly unique performance: “Disney Medley,” “TV Show Medley,” “Boy Band Medley,” and “Rainbow Connection.” Hours: 7pm-2am

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

Atlantic Dance Hall Dance the night away at this 1940s-style dance hall. There’s no cover charge, so you can dance all night long, or just pop in for an hour before moving on. The club plays music from the 80s, 90s, and today, and is open on the weekends for maximum enjoyment. Ages 21+ only. Hours: Thursday–Sunday 8pm–1am

BoardWalk Courtyard Before you leave for the night, take a nice romantic walk around the grounds of Disney’s BoardWalk Inn. If you venture back into the hotel, make a left and walk straight out of the far doors. This will lead you to a private courtyard where many of the inn's suites are located. It is a very secluded, romantic spot where you can enjoy some alone time away from the crowds. Please be mindful of the guests and do not visit this spot too late.

Parking When parking at Disney’s BoardWalk, you must present an ID. Keep in mind it may be difficult to find parking if there is an event going on at Epcot. Sometimes having a dining reservation helps. You can always use a rideshare app or Disney transportation from Disney Springs.

Fireworks Disney’s BoardWalk is one of the locations we recommend for fireworks viewing . Be sure to include this in your schedule if you are interested.

Sit at the Bar/Make Reservations We highly recommend you sit at the bar at each location, especially if you're just ordering a few things to share. Reservations are highly recommended for any table service restaurant.

Hidden Mickeys While you are at Disney, you might as well be looking for hidden Mickeys. You can search for their locations in advance, or conduct your own scavenger hunt to see how many you can find during your visit.

Hours Please note: Hours for restaurant locations can change based on the season. Please check the website before making your final plans.

Disney's Mobile Ordering You can Mobile Order food at select restaurants and quick service locations through the MyDisneyExperience app. This includes select table service restaurants like Ale and Compass at Disney's Yacht Club. This is a great option if you want to enjoy a meal away from the busy dining room. There is plenty of seating throughout the entire BoardWalk area.

Disney Boat and Skyliner Transportation The BoardWalk area is beloved because of its prime location between EPCOT and Disney's Hollywood Studios. These theme parks are within walking distance, and there is also boat transportation and Disney Skyliner transportation. The Skyliner station is near the back entrance to EPCOT by Disney's Beach Club. Check out our Skyliner Crawl itineraries .

Additional Options While some of these options are not immediately part of Disney’s BoardWalk, they are convenient and can always be included or substituted for any of the locations listed above.

  • Ale and Compass
  • Beaches & Cream Soda Shop
  • Crew’s Cup Lounge
  • Kimonos Lounge for karaoke, sushi and sake
  • Fantasia Gardens Mini Golf (across the street from the Swan & Dolphin)

Where to Visit: Disney Boardwalk or Disney Springs

W hile the theme parks are obviously the biggest draw at the Walt Disney World Resort, there is so much more to do on Disney property. If you are looking for great restaurants, shopping, and entertainment options, especially in the evening, the Disney Boardwalk or Disney Springs may be a good destination. Both offer plenty of activities, restaurants, and free admission (no reservations or tickets required to enter).

Planning to visit either the Disney Boardwalk or Disney Springs and wondering which one is the better choice? Here are details about both so that you can make an informed decision. If you’re there for a longer trip, you may even be able to do both on separate days of your vacation.

What is the Disney Boardwalk?

The Disney Boardwalk Inn is a deluxe resort and Disney Vacation Club resort located in the Epcot resort area of the park. In addition to a deluxe resort, the Boardwalk area offers shops, entertainment, and restaurants.

It’s free to walk around the Boardwalk – there’s no admission fee. It’s got a turn-of-the-century boardwalk theme and can feel very nostalgic and “Disney”.

Guests staying at the Swan and Dolphin Resorts and the Yacht and Beach Club Disney Resorts can easily access the Boardwalk just by taking a short walk. You can also walk from both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios. There are also Skyliner stations at both Hollywood Studios and the back entrance of EPCOT.

There are also Friendship boats that can take you to the Boardwalk from these two parks. In addition, free transportation, including buses, is available to get you to and from the other theme parks (the Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom) and the Disney water parks.

What is Disney Springs?

Disney Springs is a huge entertainment, shopping, and restaurant complex located on Disney property. Like the Boardwalk, it’s free to walk around Disney Springs. Originally called Downtown Disney, Disney Springs has undergone a huge transformation in recent years and now includes even more entertainment, restaurants, and shops.

Because of the size, you could definitely spend a full day at Disney Springs , especially if you plan to take advantage of the various entertainment option, or want to shop. It’s a huge area.

Within Disney Springs, you’ll find specialty and chain shops, including UNIQLO, Sephora, the World of Disney, and so much more. If you have forgotten something on your trip that you can’t find at your resort gift shop, you’ll probably be able to find it at a Disney Springs store. Although I love the large selection of stores, I especially like the specialty Disney stores there.

Does the Disney Boardwalk or Disney Springs have more restaurants?

While both the Disney Boardwalk and Disney Springs have great restaurants, Disney Springs has many more restaurant options . These include the following:

  • The Boathouse
  • Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’
  • Enzo’s Hideaway
  • Frontera Cocina
  • The House of Blues
  • Jaleo by Jose Andres
  • Maria and Enzo’s Ristorante
  • Morimoto Asia
  • Planet Hollywood
  • Paradiso 37
  • Raglan Road
  • The Rainforest Cafe
  • Splitsville Dining
  • STK Orlando
  • Wolfgang Puck
  • Wine Bar George

There are also a number of quick-service restaurants in Disney Springs including Blaze Pizza and the Earl of Sandwich. In addition, there are various kiosks and food trucks located throughout the whole complex.

You’ll also find some delicious restaurants at the Disney Boardwalk. While there are fewer options, there are still fine dining locations as well as casual table service restaurants. Options include:

  • Big River Grille and Brewing Works
  • The Flying Fish
  • Trattoria Al Forno

There are also delicious quick-service spots and kiosks including a pizza window, the Boardwalk Bakery, Ample Hills Creamery ice cream, and a to-go cart. The Cake Bake Shop Bakery by Gwendolyn Rogers is coming soon to the Disney Boardwalk.

If you are looking for an alcoholic beverage before or after dinner, there are great options at both the Disney Boardwalk and Disney Springs.

While both have great dining options, I recommend that you decide what kind of food you prefer. These restaurants generally do take advance dining reservations, and walk-ins may not always be accommodated. Make reservations in advance wherever possible.

Does the Disney Boardwalk or Disney Springs have more entertainment?

Both areas offer entertainment, although the selection is definitely limited to the Boardwalk area. There, you’ll find Jellyrolls Dueling Pianos (which has a cover charge), an arcade, surrey bike rentals, and the Atlantic Dance Hall, as well as carnival midway games and street performers.

Disney Springs, however, is filled with entertainment choices. These include the brand-new Cirque du Soleil show Drawn to Life, the House of Blues Restaurant and Bar, an AMC theater, Splitsville Bowling , Aerophile balloons, Amphicar rides, and a carousel.

If you have time in your vacation agenda, I’d definitely recommend that you plan for a full day at Disney Springs, or at least an evening. There’s so much to do. Keep in mind that most of these things do cost an extra fee, so you’ll want to budget for them and make reservations/advance purchases wherever possible.

Disney Springs is also a great option for a rainy day.. However, most guests will have the same idea, so you’ll want to plan in advance if you can. Movie tickets, for instance, should be purchased in advance.

Which one is more convenient: Disney Boardwalk or Disney Springs?

Getting to the Disney Boardwalk can be very easy, or a little more difficult, depending on where you are coming from. Guests staying at the Yacht and Beach Clubs, the Boardwalk Inn, and the Swan and Dolphin Resorts can just easily walk to the Boardwalk. That makes it extremely convenient for those guests.

The Boardwalk is also convenient for guests coming from both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. It’s easy walking distance from both parks (using EPCOT’s International Gateway in the World Showcase ) or you can take a Friendship boat. You can also access the Boardwalk from two Disney Skyliner stations – Hollywood Studios or EPCOT.

Parking at the Boardwalk can be challenging because it’s very limited. The parking lot is right at the resort. In some cases, you may need to valet your car, or will need to have dining reservations in order to park.

If you aren’t staying at one of the nearby resorts, it can be more challenging to get there. In that case, you’ll want to take transportation to one of the theme parks and transfer to transportation to the Boardwalk, unless you can take the Skyliner and walk.

Disney Springs isn’t walking distance from any of the theme parks, so it’s usually more of an event to get there. Free parking is available in one of the lots/parking garages.

If you aren’t driving, buses are generally the easiest way to get to Disney Springs. Guests staying at Disney’s Port Orleans , Old Key West, and Saratoga Springs can also take a boat to Disney Springs.

So, guests staying at one of the resorts near the Boardwalk will find that to be the most convenient. However, Disney Springs is probably more universally convenient to access.

Which one is more expensive: Disney Boardwalk or Disney Springs?

Both the Boardwalk area and Disney Springs are completely free to access and visit. However, you will pay for various activities and restaurants at both spots.

Which one is better?

Disney Springs is much larger, by far. You’ll find more shopping, dining, and entertainment options there. If you are visiting for the day, you’ll still find plenty to do.

The Disney Boardwalk, on the other hand, is a nice, small spot to walk around. It’s especially nice if you are having dinner in that area, or are staying nearby. I wouldn’t necessarily plan it as a special destination, however, unless there was a restaurant there I wanted to try.

Have you been to the Disney Boardwalk or Disney Springs? Which one is your favorite?

The 17 best Disney World hotels for your 2024 stay

Summer Hull

Things have certainly changed since Walt Disney World opened more than 50 years ago . There used to be just a handful of hotels and one theme park. Now, you have the magic — and the challenge — of choice. There are more than 25 hotels to choose from and multiple parks to visit when you embark on a Disney vacation.

Related: The best travel credit cards

Choosing the best Disney hotel is a fun challenge, but a challenge nonetheless. The resorts at Walt Disney World range from those with views of live zebras and giraffes to treehouse villas and even log cabins in the woods.

When you choose a Disney World hotel, you not only stay in the "Disney bubble" but also gain access to the parks 30 minutes early each morning. Additionally, you can purchase Lightning Lane passes for newer rides — like Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Tron / Lightcycle Run — before non-resort guests, starting up to seven days before you check in. This means you'll have a better chance of snagging those coveted ride passes.

Related: 14 reasons to stay at a Walt Disney World Resort property

Still, not all Disney resorts are created equal. Fortunately, TPG is here to help sort through the best hotel options at Walt Disney World. We've tried dozens of Disney-area hotels and carefully considered the best (and less-than-stellar) features of nearly every on-property resort to bring you this list.

Whether you're looking to be treated like a fairy tale princess or a grown-up who happens to be staying near a theme park, Disney World has you covered.

Here are our top picks:

  • Best Deluxe Disney World resorts: Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge , Disney's Contemporary Resort , Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa and Disney's Wilderness Lodge
  • Best Moderate Disney World resorts: Disney's Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter , The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Gran Destino Tower at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort
  • Best Value Disney World resorts: Disney's Art of Animation Resort and Disney's Pop Century Resort
  • Best Disney World resort pools: Disney's Yacht Club Resort and Disney's Beach Club Resort , Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort and Disney's Polynesian Village Resort
  • Best Disney World resorts for large families: Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa , Disney's All-Star Music Resort
  • Best Disney World resorts for adults: Disney's BoardWalk Inn , Disney's Riviera Resort

FOR NO-COST ASSISTANCE WITH PLANNING AND BOOKING YOUR NEXT DISNEY VACATION, CHECK OUT TPG'S DISNEY BOOKING PARTNER, MOUSE COUNSELORS .

Best Deluxe Disney World resorts

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

The cream of the crop among Disney World hotels in terms of amenities, quality and price are the Deluxe resorts. These resorts have multiple on-site full-service restaurants and extensive pool areas with waterslides. Some are within walking or monorail distance of the theme parks.

All of this comes at a cost, though. Deluxe Disney resorts can range from $400 to $800 per night for a standard room. Renting Disney Vacation Club points can help bring this cost down at times, but a Deluxe resort stay will be an investment compared to the other tiers of Disney hotels.

As mentioned, Deluxe resorts are the most expensive of Disney's hotels.

While some offer luxury amenities like spas and fine dining venues, others emphasize great themes and proximity to the parks. You also get access to select parks two hours later than everyone else when staying in a Deluxe resort on eligible nights.

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

A true safari involves incredibly long flights and the possibility of malaria pills. For a safari-style vacation closer to home, there's Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge .

Offering an unforgettable wildlife experience within U.S. borders, Animal Kingdom Lodge is its own ecosystem away from the hustle and bustle of most of the Disney World complex.

The soaring ceilings at Jambo House are adorned with traditional decor. If you want to see giraffes, zebras, ostriches and a host of other animals, all you have to do is merely walk past the lobby's expansive windows.

Dining at this Deluxe resort is another highlight of a stay here. Boma and Jiko are excellent choices if you want to experience an authentic African meal at the resort.

Look into the nighttime Starlight Safari , which comes with loaner night vision devices, for a unique experience.

The property is an example of an excellent time to rent DVC points, especially if your family wants more space while saving money. During low seasons, rooms start at just 7 points per night, with DVC points typically available to rent from David's Vacation Club for $20 to $25 per point.

Rates for standard rooms at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge average around $485 per night.

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

Disney's Contemporary Resort is another original Disney World resort from the 1971 opening. It's about as close as you can get to The Magic Kingdom without pitching a tent inside the gates (and subsequently getting kicked out by security).

It may have been built over five decades ago, but its amenities have recently been updated and the rooms now sport an "incredible" new look. While the theme and renovations are a big step up, the main draw of this property is undoubtedly its monorail design and Magic Kingdom-adjacent location.

We prefer tower rooms over garden-wing options as they are more centrally located to the amenities and monorail, and many offer superb views of The Magic Kingdom's nightly fireworks.

When you've worked up an appetite, you'll find a few of our favorite Disney World restaurants on-site, including Chef Mickey's. At this popular eatery, you can dine with characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto. For something more upscale, there's California Grill. If you time it right, it has some of the best views of The Magic Kingdom fireworks around.

Related: The 5 best Disney World character meals you've never heard of — and how to book them

If you're ready for a splurge-level stay at the Contemporary, there is also a club level where bites and beverages from the aforementioned restaurants are included.

Rates for standard rooms at Disney's Contemporary Resort average around $575 per night.

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is arguably the most traditional and iconic of Disney World's high-end hotels. You won't find many bright, in-your-face character themes here, but you will have access to some of Disney's most upscale amenities, including a spa and the fanciest (and priciest) restaurant at Disney.

It's one of Disney World's most expensive resorts thanks to its proximity to The Magic Kingdom, top-notch facilities, and over-the-top Christmas displays, including a gingerbread house in the lobby.

Fortunately, the Grand Floridian is undergoing a resort-wide renovation involving converting one of the hotel buildings into beautiful DVC studios. So, there's now one more reason to visit.

Dining is another highlight here. The acclaimed Victoria & Albert's experience is unparalleled, with a dress code and a no-little-kids policy to match. For an equally excellent but more affordable option, grab a cocktail or mocktail at the "Beauty and the Beast"-inspired Enchanted Rose bar on the second floor of the Grand Floridian's lobby.

Related: More rides and fewer crowds: What to expect at Disney After Hours

Rates for standard rooms at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa average around $750 per night.

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

A short drive or boat ride away from The Magic Kingdom, Disney's Wilderness Lodge is equal parts Great Wolf Lodge , Yellowstone National Park and Disney magic. There are great attractions and restaurants on-site, including a water feature that starts in the lobby and becomes a creek that feeds into one of two outdoor pools.

For a fun, reasonably priced family dining experience, try Whispering Canyon Cafe — and be aware that if you ask for ketchup, you may get a lot of ketchup. If rare Disney characters are more your jam, enjoy dinner with the Evil Queen at Story Book Dining at Artist Point .

Those who want more space and ambience than a standard hotel room should reserve one of the Copper Creek Cabins in the woods adjacent to the Wilderness Lodge or the truly spectacular two-bedroom Yosemite Suite . Both are pricey, but we promise you'll love staying in either option.

If you do opt for standard rooms (or even club-level rooms ), the good news is that Disney's Wilderness Lodge is generally one of the more affordable of the Deluxe Disney resorts. So, you can rest easy knowing you're paying a little less than average for Disney's high-end properties.

Rates for standard rooms at Disney's Wilderness Lodge average around $500 per night.

Best Moderate Disney World resorts

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

If you want a balance of price and amenities, the Moderate category of Disney resorts can be a sweet spot. At Moderate Disney resorts, there are some full-service restaurants, more on-site amenities, waterslides at the pools, and a great variety of themes and locations to choose from.

Expect rates at these hotels to range from $250 to $400 on most nights for a standard room.

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

One of the best Moderate resorts at Disney World is Port Orleans. We're especially partial to the French Quarter side, with its charming wrought-iron railings, bubbling fountains and an eatery serving tasty Mickey-shaped beignets.

This property is much more compact than other Moderate resorts like Disney's Coronado Springs Resort and Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort. This makes everything from parking and catching a Disney bus to grabbing dinner that much easier.

It isn't the newest or fanciest option in Disney's resort portfolio, but it is a calm and lovely balance of theming and easily accessible amenities. Although you'll need a bus or car to get from this resort to any of the Disney World theme parks, you can catch the free boat to Disney Springs for shopping and dining.

In addition to the property's relaxing vibe and manageable size, the greatest asset of Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter is the price.

Rooms here are often more affordable than what you'll find at other Moderate properties, most likely because it's not connected to the theme parks by anything other than ground transportation (and Minnie Vans ).

Rates for standard rooms at Disney's Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter average around $300 per night.

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

One of Disney World's lesser-known Moderate resorts is also one of its most entertaining.

Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort has plenty of campsites for tents and spots for recreational vehicles .

However, if you're not interested in either, The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort are an excellent choice. It gives you the best of many worlds regarding space, price and resort activities — especially if you're not planning to spend all your time at the theme parks. The cabins sleep up to six and offer a queen-size bed, a set of bunk beds and a relatively comfortable pullout sofa bed. And soon, Disney will replace the current cabins with 350 all-new cabins .

Trust us, there is one essential Fort Wilderness expense you'll want to budget for — golf carts .

It costs $65 to $84 per day to rent one. However, it makes it much easier to travel to the Meadow Trading Post for snacks, the docks for transportation to The Magic Kingdom, and other parts of the 700-acre property. Lock in your golf cart reservation as far in advance as possible since they're known to sell out.

Fort Wilderness has a nonstop list of activities you probably didn't know you could do at Disney World, including pony rides, archery, fishing, and rides in wagons and horse-drawn carriages.

When the day winds down, you can also check out the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue , a lively performance full of dancing, singing and comedic moments.

Rates for standard cabins at The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Lodge average around $460 per night.

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is the poster child of a Moderate Disney property. It's an older resort with two-story buildings spread across a large area.

Complimentary theme park transportation is limited to buses, and on-site dining venues are mostly quick-service options, given the resort's large convention clientele. Additionally, the rooms are on the smaller side, though they were recently renovated.

But one thing changed a couple of years ago that catapulted part of this property onto our favorites list: the new Gran Destino Tower .

This "hotel within a hotel" has a stunning lobby and an equally snazzy lobby bar. If you're looking for a completely different perspective, let an elevator whisk you up to the 16th floor, where the rooftop Dahlia Lounge awaits — along with an award-winning wine list. Gran Destino Tower is light on a Disney theme, but otherwise, its accommodations are on par with many Deluxe resorts.

Gran Destino is also the only Moderate option at Disney World that has a club lounge, should you prefer an exclusive space to visit and grab refreshments throughout your stay.

Rates for standard rooms at the Gran Destino Tower at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort average around $400 per night.

Best Value Disney World resorts

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

Value Disney resorts are the most affordable Disney World hotels.

Nightly rates start around $125 and increase to about $300 on peak dates. None of these hotels are walkable from the theme parks, but some are close to the Skyliner. Others require bus transportation.

Value Disney hotels don't have full-service restaurants or fun extras like waterslides, but they do offer grab-and-go food outlets, lively pools and colorful themes.

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

Disney's Art of Animation Resort is the king of Value resorts at Disney World.

The resort features bright colors and memorable Disney cartoon characters. It's also accessible from both Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios thanks to the Disney Skyliner gondola system .

Art of Animation really shines with its family suites, which provide a lot more room and have three beds in each suite (one traditional bed, one Murphy bed and a pullout sofa bed). The family suites have your choice of "The Lion King," "Cars" and "Finding Nemo" themes, while standard rooms feature decor inspired by "The Little Mermaid."

When it comes to pools, the Big Blue Pool at Art of Animation is actually the largest option available at any Disney World resort.

While the food here won't blow you away, Landscape of Flavors is a reliable cafeteria-style venue that can be a nice, easy option for families.

Rates for standard rooms at Disney's Art of Animation Resort average around $240 per night.

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

Disney's Pop Century Resort is across from Art of Animation. While it doesn't have our favorite theme (it's themed to bygone decades), it is usually the lowest-priced Disney resort that isn't one of the All-Star properties.

We generally prefer it to the All-Star resorts, as Pop Century is a stand-alone property that doesn't have to share a bus service. It's less likely to be packed with thousands of cheerleaders and children's sports groups. In addition to the included bus service to the parks, it also sits on the Skyliner route, so you can soar in a gondola to various parks and resorts.

Rates for standard rooms at Disney's Pop Century Resort average around $200 per night.

Best Disney World resort pools

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

Nothing beats an afternoon dip in your hotel's pool, so if you want to know which Disney resort hotels have the best pools, here are our top picks.

disney boardwalk yacht club restaurant

Disney's Beach Club Resort and its sister property, Disney's Yacht Club Resort , share access to Stormalong Bay, which offers top-notch poolside fun for the whole family.

Both resorts have the distinct feel of a beach in an otherwise landlocked resort thanks to sand-bottomed pools, a lazy river, a pirate ship and a wicked waterslide, among other amenities that will keep young swimmers entertained for hours.

Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort is one of Disney's Moderate resorts and one of the largest. Because the resort is so spread out, there are multiple pools across the property — six in total. The main Fuentes del Morro Pool is themed to resemble a Spanish fortress, with two waterslides, a zero-entry area, a 12-person hot tub and a pirate-themed splash area for kids.

The resort has a colorful island style, and some guest rooms recently received a Little Mermaid makeover. Despite the resort's size, it does offer convenient transportation options, including bus service and a Disney Skyliner station that can take you to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.

Rates at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort average around $300 per night.

One of the original Disney World resort hotels inspired by Walt Disney himself, Disney's Polynesian Village Resort sits on the monorail only a few minutes from The Magic Kingdom. Yet, it transports you to a lush Pacific island the moment you enter. It's such a great property we almost warn against staying at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort because it will set the bar pretty high for future Disney resort stays.

At "the Poly," you'll find a couple of our favorite Disney restaurants. Notably, there's Ohana — a Polynesian-inspired dining venue within the resort's main building that serves delectable noodles and a mouthwatering bread pudding — among other options on the family-style, all-you-care-to-enjoy menu.

There are plenty of activities and amenities on the grounds, such as free outdoor movies at night and a 142-foot waterslide that drops riders into the main Lava Pool (there is a secondary quiet pool, as well). There's also a large splash area with several smaller waterslides for younger guests, a zero-entry section, a separate quiet pool and a nearby stand to grab Dole Whip. The icing on the on-site Dole Whip is being able to watch The Magic Kingdom fireworks from the pool in the evenings as the perfectly timed music pipes in.

Rates for standard rooms at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort average around $640 per night.

Best Disney World resorts for large families

Large families and groups can really rack up a bill when visiting Disney World since most on-property rooms are designed for no more than four or five people. As a result, your choices tend to be limited if you have at least five or six people in your group. Fortunately, a few resorts offer plenty of space for larger families.

Deluxe studio rooms have a kitchenette and a balcony or patio, and villas have separate bedrooms, a full kitchen, in-room laundry and a balcony or patio.

The resort also has multiple pools, bike rentals, tennis and basketball courts, and a Community Hall with movies, video games and daily activities like crafts and games.

In the woods behind Disney's Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa are several Treehouse Villas that sleep up to nine people. Offering three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen, these spacious accommodations can easily fit an extended family.

Best Disney World resorts for adults

We love Disney, but we're not afraid to admit that having a brief break from its intensity is sometimes nice. Luckily, a couple of options are ideal for those who want to stay near the magic without living with Mickey and his friends 24 hours a day.

Disney World's newest stand-alone hotel is easily one of the larger resort's best options for adults who want to balance a Disney trip with some less in-your-face Disney elements.

On the Disney Skyliner route, Disney's Riviera Resort offers easy access to Disney's Hollywood Studios and Epcot without placing you right in the heart of all the theme park action.

The real highlight of this easygoing property, though, is its Mediterranean vibe. The blue-and-white decor, music and cuisine will transport you to the Mediterranean coast.

You'll find all the usual Disney amenities at this Deluxe resort, but it's just a touch more refined and grown-up without being stuffy.

We're serious Riviera fans thanks in part to its design, which includes everything from "Tangled"- and "Peter Pan"-inspired mosaics to marble bathrooms that may be the nicest in all of Disney.

Don't worry if you want to bring the kids, though. There's plenty for them to enjoy, including poolside gelato, a waterslide and our favorite toddler splash area at Disney World.

Rates for standard rooms at Disney's Riviera Resort average around $500 per night.

Disney's BoardWalk Inn is a DVC resort along Disney's BoardWalk in the Epcot resort area. That means you can easily walk to Epcot to eat and drink global cuisine around the World Showcase or to Disney's Hollywood Studios to fly the Millennium Falcon at Galaxy's Edge. The resort also offers water taxi and bus service around Disney World.

Guest rooms range from standard rooms to multi-bedroom villas, and the resort has three pools. You can splash and slide at the Luna Park Pool (or soak in the hot tub) or head for one of the quieter leisure pools.

This resort is all about location. In addition to being close to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, Disney's BoardWalk Inn is close to the dining, shopping and nightlife that line Disney's BoardWalk area. When you are done visiting the parks, you can visit Abracadabar, a magic-themed cocktail lounge, or Jellyrolls, a dueling piano bar.

Rates for standard rooms at Disney's BoardWalk Inn average around $600 per night.

Bottom line

Choosing the best resort hotel at Disney World gets easier once you identify your budget and priorities.

Do you want a great pool, more space, proximity to the parks or perhaps an immersive theme? No matter what is most important to you, you'll find a Disney property that will likely satisfy your needs.

Whether you're itching to splash around in the Stormalong Bay pool complex at Disney's Yacht Club and Beach Club resorts, stretch your budget at Disney's Pop Century Resort, retreat to a cabin at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort or get an iconic eyeful of the monorail coming through Disney's Contemporary Resort, there's a Disney resort that will have every member of your family excited to be on vacation at Walt Disney World.

Disney’s ‘Fake Luxury’ and ‘Cosplay’ Is Costing You Thousands

in Disney , Theme Parks , Walt Disney World

Pluto and Goofy, two iconic Disneyland and Disney World dogs, outside Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

A trip to the Walt Disney World Resort is expensive, but why? What makes staying at a Disney World hotel more expensive than other luxury hotels nationwide?

Sure, a Disney World hotel has access to, well, Disney World. There is an exclusivity to staying on property that comes with some benefits.

Illustration of numerous dollar bills floating in the air in front of the iconic Disney castle under a clear blue sky with fluffy white clouds.

Related: ‘ This is Insane,’ Guests Are Begging for a Change to the Most Irritating Part of a Disney World Vacation

However, since the end of the Pandemic, the exclusivity of staying on property at the Walt Disney World Resort has waned. Disney has removed many benefits that made paying the exorbitant price to keep on property worth it, including the loss of Disney’s Magical Express, free Magic Bands, and extra Magic Hours.

So, if the cost is starting to outweigh the benefits of a Disney World hotel, why are so many people lining up to do it? Well, a new video breaks down just how Disney is able to convince guests to pay outrage sums for what they call the “fake luxury” of every Disney hotel.

Review time broke down why every Disney fan needs to shell out thousands of dollars a night for a Disney hotel room and how Disney tricks you into believing you’re getting something you’re not.

So, let’s examine how Disney tricks its fans into paying for “fake luxury” through “Disney cosplay.”

The History

When Walt Disney was nearing completion of his Anaheim project, there was no Disneyland Resort; there was just a park. Walt didn’t have the money to build anything besides his theme park.

Walt turned to oil tycoon Jack Wrather to build the Disneyland Hotel after other major hotels turned him down. A few months after the completion of Disneyland, the Disneyland Hotel opened, and it was a hit.

Like with most things at Disneyland, Walt learned what changes needed to be made when he went to work on his Central Florida project. Sadly, Walt died before the completion of the Magic Kingdom.

With the completion of the Magic Kingdom, Disney opened the Polynesian Village Resort and the Contemporary Resort. Both were massive hits with guests.

Years later, Disney would open the ultimate luxury hotel in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort . The hotel was based on the classic Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego.

Disney owned and operated all three hotels outside of the Magic Kingdom. However, with the opening of EPCOT, Disney needed to expand its hotel offerings to accommodate the new theme park.

This brings us to the Michael Eisner era as Disney CEO. Eisner came up with the concept of the “Disney Bubble.” Once you arrived on the property, you never had to leave. The Walt Disney World Resort had everything guests needed: hotel, shopping, theme parks, and dining.

Aerial view of the expansion at a construction site near water, featuring a dirt area surrounded by buildings with red roofs. Construction materials and equipment are scattered across the site.

Related: Head of Disney Imagineering Says the Quiet Part Out Loud: Disney World is Undemocratic and About to Get More Expensive

More importantly than giving guests what they wanted, the “Disney Bubble” kept guests on the property spending their money. Disney, get every last dollar you would spend on your vacation.

During Eisner’s first ten years, Disney World went from four hotels to 13, including the addition of the Beach Club, Yacht Club, and Boardwalk Hotel around EPCOT. When Eisner left Disney, the Walt Disney World Resort had 19 hotels.

Theme parks worldwide would copy this method. Everyone wants to ensure that guests spend every dollar on their property.

Disney's Beach Club Villas

Review Time I specifically compared the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Since the Grand Floridian is based on a Southern California hotel, it seemed like an apt comparison.

A standard room at the Hotel Del Coronado costs between $300-$500 a night, depending on the season. A standard room is precisely what you’re thinking: two beds, a bathroom, and a limited ocean view.

For the same room at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, guests will pay $700-$1,000 a night, depending on the season. That is nearly double what you will pay to stay on the beach in San Diego.

grand floridian resort walt disney world

Review Time said:

Disney gives guests the glamour of a historical, highly acclaimed, and architecturally significant resort without actually being a historical, highly acclaimed, and architecturally significant resort. These glamorous facades are just elaborate costumes masking a well-established framework.

Disney fans will argue that staying at the Grand Floridian Resort gives you access to the Magic Kingdom via Disney’s monorail. However, the Hotel Del Coronado gives you access to a private beach on the Pacific Ocean.

Like most things in this world, the price of a hotel room is a matter of opinion. However, Review Time describes what Disney gives its guests as “fake luxury” designed for the masses.

grand floridian

Review Time continued:

This clever design results in an experience that feels luxurious and unique on the surface, but is fundamentally geared for mass accommodations. We call this artificial opulence, and it works.

They are not necessarily wrong. A Disney Resort Hotel is designed to move as many people in and out quickly as possible. It’s the fundamental design of Disney’s business.

If guests are willing to pay for it, Disney will continue to give it to them. But is there a breaking point for guests?

The Expense of Disney World Hotels

So, how did Disney World Resort hotels get so expensive? Two words: location and convenience.

Disney learned from its mistakes at the Disneyland Hotel and kept ownership of its resort hotels. This allowed the company to charge whatever it wanted for the privilege of staying on their property.

Disney offers guests nearly everything they need on a vacation: theme parks, a pool, restaurants, and a chance to relax and enjoy themselves. For that, guests are willing to pay a premium.

A luxurious hotel at twilight with illuminated windows, featuring a large outdoor swimming pool surrounded by palm trees and lounge chairs.

Disney’s Resorts may not be traditional luxury, but the carefully craft experiences and benefits they provide for their guests still hold significant value for many. As long as people find value in the resorts, the prices aren’t going anywhere but up.

And it’s the cost that keeps going up every year. That brings us to the final piece of this puzzle: the Disney Vacation Club.

Disney’s Vacation Club

The Disney Vacation Club is the final puzzle of Disney World’s “fake luxury.” The cyclical nature of the DVC keeps costs rising for average Disney World guests and continues to put money in Disney’s pocket even if no one is showing up at the parks.

The DVC was initially created to get people into the parks during slow times. The fees Disney charges keep a steady stream of revenue coming into The Walt Disney Company even when people are not heading to the parks.

Disney's Old Key West Resort, a Disney resort hotel, at sunset.

However, this also created increased prices for people who were not DVC members through a sneaky move that Disney used to entice more people into buying DVC memberships.

By increasing hotel prices, Disney can sell the idea of saving money over time by purchasing a Disney Vacation Club membership. By getting more Disney Vacation Club members, Disney can collect more fees and build more DVC hotels.

It becomes a vicious circle that repeats itself, forcing Disney guests to pay for a Disney Resort Hotel stay or pony up a massive amount of cash to become a DVC member.

In doing so, Disney maintains a monopoly over the best access to its parks and experiences, with very few outsiders allowed in the bubble.

Family enjoying breakfast at a kitchen in their Disney Villa

The Conclusion

Disney’s cycle relies on guests paying massive sums to stay on Disney property. This moneymaker has been driving Disney’s profits for decades.

However, this cycle is built entirely around guests continuing to come. But what happens if people stop showing up?

Disney CEO Bob Iger admitted that Disney has seen a dip in attendance due to a post-COVID dip. But with fewer new rides and attractions coming in the next couple of years, what if this dip is permanent or lasts for years?

Related: There’s a Laundry List of Reasons Disney World is Empty this Summer

This would result in Disney cutting costs to ensure the stockholders still receive their profits. If Disney cuts costs, it will result in lower quality at its parks, something guests have been complaining about over the last year.

To bring the quality back up, Disney will have to infuse massive amounts of cash into its parks; see this year’s D23 Expo. As a result, guests will have to pay higher prices for the Disney Park experience.

And the cycle continues.

Either way, Disney will keep its most diehard fans returning yearly and paying more and more for the experience. In the end, it makes perfect sense for them.

Do you think Disney World Resort Hotels represent ‘fake luxury’?
