Angra dos Reis, or Bay of Kings, in the state of Rio de Janeiro is the perfect place to begin your voyage. Sheltered by the large island of Ilha Grande, the gorgeous bay is home to more than 300 islands, and the short distances between them offer infinite spots to stop off and enjoy snorkeling, diving, or swimming. Venture ashore to enjoy a private picnic or beach barbecue prepared by your chef, or explore rainforest trails leading to cascading waterfalls and immerse yourself in the splendor within. Arrive in Angra dos Reis via charter flight or helicopter from Rio de Janeiro, and head to Marina Verolme to meet your yacht and crew. Ilha da Cotia

Take a quick jaunt to Praia Grande for sunbathing on its stunning sandy beach, kayaking in the gorgeous waters, or simply strolling along the coast. Set out for Saco do Mamanguá, home to Brazil’s only fjord, with majestic towering rock walls jutting into the lush rainforest, and then continue to Ilha da Cotia to find a secluded anchorage and take in the panorama around you.

Ilha de Paquetá

Brightly adorned horse-drawn carriages are the only “vehicles” you’ll see, as no cars are permitted in this quaint, leisurely village. For a chance of pace, dine at Chez Dominique, serving up the best French food in the region.

As you make way back toward Ilha Grande, stop off at one of the many islands in the Baía da Ribeira, an idyllic spot to swim or splash around with the yacht’s water toys. Anchor out near Araçatiba, known for its abundant fishing and reflective aquamarine waters that may turn phosphorescent at night.

If weather conditions are favorable, take a counterclockwise turn towards Aventureiro, a rugged bay surrounded by tumbled boulders forming serene pools. Continue to Parnaioca, a nature-lover’s paradise, where a flowing river finds its way down to the unspoiled beach. Cruise around to the tip of Ilha Grande to Palmas and find a serene anchorage, enjoy a cocktail on deck, and take in the beautiful views.

Angra dos Reis

After navigating through this beautiful oasis of more than 300 islands, return to Angra for your ride to São Paulo for some last-minute shopping and dining. Or head to Rio de Janeiro to take in landmarks, such as the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue. However you choose to end your journey, it will surely be the perfect finale.

Day 1 Rio De Jainero

After landing in Rio de Janeiro, feel free to explore the city before heading towards the coast and your luxury yacht. Stroll along the streets of Copacabana, visit the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue, or even grab lunch at one of the many unique restaurants in the city. Head towards the port of Angra dos Reis when you’re ready to climb aboard.

Day 2 Angra dos Reis

Angra dos Reis (nicknamed the Bay of Kings) provides endless entertainment through its 365 luxurious tropic islands, with over a thousand beautiful beaches. Take the day to explore and island hop the area discovered over 500 years ago. Calm transparent waters and white sand ensure maximum relaxation and magnificent views, along with a great variety of bars and restaurants, famous for its fresh seafood.

Day 3 Ilha Grande

Ilha Grande is the largest of the 365 islands but worth a visit for its 109 idyllic sandy beaches. Sail towards the bay of Vila do Abrao on the way and you will be able to explore beautiful coves and wild forests along the area, a peaceful car-free zone, allowing you to share your trip with monkeys and exotic birds. As the location is ideal for snorkelling, spend the day swimming with tropical fish and sea turtles.

Day 4 Lopes Mendes

Located only 20 minutes away, Lopes Mendes beach is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Whether you prefer sunbathing with a cocktail in hand or surfing the waves, this beach is untouched by the tourist industry and will ensure breath-taking views.

Day 5 Aventureiro

The perfect private getaway, Aventureiro waits for you with its beautiful sandy beach, uniquely shaped palm trees and tropical vegetation. Due to its location, the beach is rarely crowded and a small trail nearby leads you to a small but delightful waterfall. For the evening here, you can sail towards Proveta, a small seaside village where you can dine on delicious cuisine and pick up some tips on the Samba.

Day 6 Paraty

Paraty provides one of the well-preserved historic centres in Brazil, so enjoy strolling down the maze of cobbled streets, taking in colonial houses and iconic churches. Paraty is also one of the best nightlife spots in the area, where jazz concerts often take place in bars. From art galleries to celebrated restaurants, Paraty will have you bewildered by the sights during the day and dancing the night away.

Day 7 Araçatiba

To complete your charter, visiting Araçatiba will leave you with spectacular memories and a longing to return to Brazil. Relaxing on this small beach is the perfect way to spend the last day. Shops and restaurants are nearby should you want one last Brazilian dish or to pick something up from independent boutiques.

Day 1: Rio de Janeiro

Ilha Grande

Depart from Rio in the morning towards Ilha Grande, 60nm to the west. Drop anchor at Enseada das Palmas, a secluded anchorage on the northeastern side, and enjoy watersports or go for a walk on this car-free island. You can reach beautiful Lopes Mendes beach after an easy 15-minute walk through the forest.

Vila do Abraão

Depart from Palmas. You’ll soon arrive in Ilha Grande’s Blue Lagoon, a perfect snorkelling spot. Then head to Saco do Céu, a completely enclosed anchorage, and take lunch in one of the waterside restaurants. Move on to Vila do Abraão, the main town, and have a drink at a beach café with your feet in the sand.

Sitio Forte Bay

Leave Abraão village and make your way west. There are hundreds of small islands and beaches where you can swim, fish or just relax – and golfers can play at the Frade course. Move on to Sitio Forte Bay for a quiet night at one of the most spacious anchorages in the area.

Anchor just across the bay from the pretty town of Paraty. After the discovery of gold around Minas Gerais in 1693, Paraty became a wealthy export harbour. The old colonial houses are perfectly preserved and guides will take you around the cobbled streets by horse and cart.

Saco do Mamanguá

Head east for the fjords of Saco do Mamanguá. Anchor by Ilha da Cotia for lunch amid forested hills. Cruise east for more fabulous beaches and stop for dinner at Praia da Cajaíba beach. Depart in the early evening for a sunset and overnight trip towards Ilhabela.

Ilhabela is the location for the famous sailing week in July. Visit some of the local shops, or one of the island’s several waterfalls. An off-road trip towards Castellanos Bay is also possible. Before departing, take a helicopter flight towards São Paulo or Rio to enjoy the beauty of the region from above.

The best time for sailing in Brazil is in the months of April and May, as well as September through the beginning of November .
