Lazzarini's 169m SOVRANO: Wildest Superyacht In The World
By Heather Collier
Italian design studio Lazzarini has revealed the latest addition to its wide portfolio of striking concepts: a 169m (555 ft) superyacht named Sovrano. The €500million concept has been designed to serve as either a private yacht with a single owner, or as a shared vessel for those looking to venture around the globe in style.
Lazzarini is renowned for its groundbreaking designs. This latest incredible new concept comes just weeks after the studio unveiled their ambition to create a spacecraft-inspired superyacht.
Sovrano has been likened to a hybrid of sorts; a mixture of both a private venture and a cruise ship. Spanning 5 decks and defined by a three-storey well cut into the foredeck, this magnificent space acts as an atrium from within the vessel, beckoning guests to lounge in its enormous swimming pool and garden area beneath.
Her twin helipads sit either side of the wheelhouse, almost resembling wings as they extend her beam from 22 to 33 metres; in turn making her the widest superyacht in the world. The space is also perfect to act as a platform for a pool, and can be winched to water level.
Sovrano also has an area designed specifically to load and unload vehicles, with a garage that can house 6 supercars and a wide range of tenders, all of which can be launched directly from the garage. Built from a combination of steel and carbon fibre composites, Sovrano is also powered by a fully-electric propulsion system delivering a top speed of 31 knots.
Although a buyer has not yet been found, a Lazzarini spokesperson Cinzia Rugerri revealed: "We estimate a €500million budget and four years for the construction."
We hope we'll have the pleasure of witnessing Lazzarini's vision come to life.

Lazzarini reveals 150m airship-style superyacht concept powered by helium gas
Related articles.
Italian design studio Lazzarini has unveiled a flying superyacht concept powered by helium, named Air Yacht.
Constructed in carbon fibre, the concept is made up of two 150 metre airships that are connected via four bridges to a central 80 metre hull.
The two “floating balloons” are divided into hives that store helium gas. When in flight, the compressed helium is released and can provide enough propulsion for journeys of up to 48 hours at 60 knots. When cruising on the water, the Air Yacht “sails quietly” at five knots.
Speaking about the concept, the studio said: “With the Air Yacht, there is a way to sail the sky without emissions damaging the future.” With kerosene the fuel of choice for most planes, Air Yacht sees Lazzarini attempting to offer a “greener option”.
The concept has all the amenities found on a regular luxury yacht, with the central hull hosting a large dining area and living space. Above sits a helipad with an accompanying helicopter.
Meanwhile the two airships each have large windows, affording guests a view of their surroundings when in flight.
Accommodation on board the concept is for a total of 22 guests in 11 cabins, comprising of five en suite staterooms on each airship and a master cabin located in the central area with a 360 degree view.
“It’s not intended for touristic purposes,” the studio added. “It’s for a private owner who wants both a superyacht and evolution in aviation.”
Lazzarini has unveiled a number of extreme designs in the past year including a 127 metre swan-inspired superyacht concept and a 69 metre concept with a giant hole in its superstructure.

First look at £787,000,000 mega-yacht that’s comes with its own airship
Share this with
The design behind a £787,000,000 mega-yacht Colossea – which comes with its own detachable airship – has been revealed.
The 699 ft Colossea has been created by Italian design studio Lazzarini.
It pays homage to the N1 airship, later renamed Norge, that completed the first journey to the North Pole in 1926.
Colossea features an airship that can set off on adventures independent from the main yacht structure.
When the captain decides it’s time for flight, the yacht follows the procedures to unlock the electromagnetic blocks that keep the airship mounted and unhook the winches to release the airship’s lift.
The aircraft, which boasts a 10,000 kg payload capacity, can accommodate up to 24 passengers, plus ten crew members.
The yacht offers 22 guest suites and multiple deck with pools on the rear part for a total load capacity up to 44 guests and 20 crew members .
Lazzarini say: ‘On the Colossea yacht, the airship reimagines its iconic design with the materials and technologies of today, proposing the same measurements of the 1924’s model with upgraded materials, layout and propulsion.
‘The Colossea mega-yacht is an itinerant floating docking station for the detachable airship.
‘Colossea is a concept design, but the estimated cost for the real construction is about $1B.’
The Norge was a semi-rigid Italian-built airship that was also the first aircraft to fly over the polar ice cap between Europe and America.

This Ferrari-Inspired 88-Foot Yacht Concept Has a Garage for Parking Your Prancing Horse

A superyacht inspired by a supercar is nothing new. In fact, earlier this year, Tecnomar and Lamborghini released a 63-footer replete with the Raging Bull’s DNA. But Lazzarini has just rolled out a concept that takes cues from Ferrari ‘s four-wheelers—and it’s worth taking notice of.
Meet the GranTurismo Mediterranea , or GTM for short, a sporty new 88-footer that pays homage to the Prancing Horse’s fast touring cars. The hull is finished in what looks like a riff on Ferrari’s recognizable Rosso Corsa red, while the superstructure is crafted from light carbon fiber that is also favored by the automaker. It’s even got a cheeky Ferrari badge on the front, though it’s not an official design.

Lazzarini didn’t disclose which exact model the GTM was based on, though the car accompanying the yacht in the renders looks quite similar to the hybrid SF90 Stradale .
“We tried to imagine how a Ferrari of the seas would look,” the Italian design studio said in a statement.
The GTM sports Gullwing doors, of course. Lazzarini Design
The automotive cues continue onboard. Accessible via gullwing doors, the cabin features a racing-inspired cockpit that comes complete with pilot seats and gauges, as well as a main saloon, two double guest cabins and accommodation for three crew. There is also a sizable spoiler to the stern for a little extra attitude.
The real highlight, though, is the folding transom on the aft deck. It can be used as either a sundeck or supercar garage for your Ferrari. Opt for the latter—good choice—and the platform can extend upwards and outwards while the boat is docked, allowing you to drive your prized ride onto dry land at the push of a button.
Aside from aesthetics, the Italian stallion is designed to run like a Ferrari, too. Described as a “hyperyacht,” the design prescribes a hybrid propulsion system featuring three MAN v-12 engines, an Arneson transmission and a central Hamilton Jet drive.
The yacht has an estimated top speed of 70 knots. Lazzarini Design
“While the propellers are limited in steering, the jet will provide thrust in acceleration and turning degrees at high speeds,” the studio adds.
Like a Ferrari, the GTM is also fitted with its own version of aerodynamic wings, known as foils, that lift the hull up and out of the water when traveling at speed. As such, the yacht will fly over the waves with less drag and more speed than a traditional planing yacht. The studio has given the GTM an estimated top speed of 70 knots, which equates to 80 mph. That means the vessel is still a fraction slower than an old 1948 Ferrari 166 Spyder Corsa , which could hit around 124 mph at full tilt.
At this stage, the dream machine will remain a dream—unless, of course, you want to turn the GTM into a reality and helm the Ferrari of the sea.
