Storage: With multiple boatyards, Padebco is able to provide our clients with indoor, indoor heated, and outside storage options. We also offer hauling and launching services.

Ellis Boat Company builds Downeast powerboats, ranging from 20 to 40 feet, from start to finish in Southwest Harbor, ME – the same location as Ralph Ellis and Raymond Bunker started with their historically famous yachts in the 1940s. Ellis Boat Company continues to prove that the Downeast semi-displacement hull design is among the best for fuel efficiency & sea-worthy characteristics.

Being part of a family business can be a joy and a source of pride, especially when your job is to manufacture beautiful custom boats. In 1947, Ralph Ellis embarked on the legendary boat-building venture with Raymond Bunker in Southwest Harbor, Maine. The subsequent partnership of “Bunker and Ellis” established a remarkable legacy of building classic lobster yachts. In the 1980s, this legacy was passed on to Ralph’s son, Don Ellis, in the name of Ellis Boat Company. Fast-forward to today. Over 300 custom Ellis Boats are traversing the seas, all built with the pride that is inherent in a family-owned business. Don’s son, Shane Ellis, is now the manager of Ellis Boat Company. Located on the coast of Maine, General Marine has focused on meeting the needs of experienced boaters. Seasoned pleasure boaters and commercial fisherman alike have come to appreciate the proven design, quality materials, and workmanship that goes into every General Marine boat. We have been accused of overbuilding our boats at General Marine, but our goal has never been to build the lowest cost vessel. Instead our mission is to provide lasting value that endures long after the initial commissioning.

A shallow ballast keel slotted for a centerboard not only means that the Little Wolf-38 floats in only three and a half feet of water but also that you can bring her into a beach and, in waist-deep water, walk all around . . .

The R37 is an ideal dayboat and yet is remarkably well-equipped for simple cruising. With roots in the lobster yachts from the 1950s by Newbert and Wallace, the type and scale were selected to balance sea kindliness, moderate speed . . .

Restoration

At the beginning of the global pandemic LATIFA paused a long-range cruise and returned to Rockport Marine for a systems refit, interior joinery, cosmetics upgrade, and a rig inspection.

Hull of 95-foot sailing yacht goes right-side-up for the first time.

Currently in construction is a milestone project for Rockport Marine, Project Ouzel, a 95′ (29m) cold-molded classic performance sloop.

Historic yacht most recently owned in Islesboro heads to Turkey

A historic steam-powered yacht is leaving Maine to find a new home across the Atlantic.

The 126-foot "Cangarda" was built back in 1901 in Delaware.

The vessel has had quite a life, including giving a cruise to King Edward VIII of England, and sinking in Boston Harbor in 1999.

Since 2015, the ship has been in operating out of the Maine coast, as her most recent owner lived in Islesboro before his death in 2021.

The ship now leaves its temporary home in Belfast, as this month it was sold to a European buyer who plans to put her in a private museum's yacht collection in Turkey.

The shop still operates entirely with the original six steam engines that powered her maiden voyage.
