With over three decades in the construction and operation of large motor yachts all over the globe, British-born Rob Dolling is one of the yachting industry’s most knowledgeable brokers. Captaining and building everything from super-fast, ground-breaking Cigarette boat projects in the early 1990s to the large full displacement world cruising megayachts of today, Rob returned to shore in 2011 to focus on the establishment of Monaco’s premier boutique brokerage firm.

Nataliya Verpeka is one of the most highly regarded and commercially driven charter brokers in the superyacht industry. After working with some of the most prestigious charter firms in the business for a number of years, Nataliya decided to pour her wealth of charter experience and unique skill set into her own business, opening the doors of the VERPEKA Yacht Brokerage in 2010, before inviting Rob to join the boutique brokerage firm the following year.

New York and its skyline were the inspiration for this yacht’s styling, from the Empire State skyscrapers on the bar stools in the sky lounge bar, lit by uplighters reminiscent of the torch held by the Statue of Liberty, to the firebird figurehead that looks as if it may have flown in from the Chrysler Building. Everything, from the door handles to the cutlery, is hand-made, each a work of art in its own right.

From the ballroom, move aft past the full-height windows, circular lounge and onto the aft deck, where a spiral staircase leads up to the upper deck and the emphasis on good times continues. Past the buffet lounge is a winter garden with guest dining in open air or climate control, as conditions dictate, then continue down the boardwalk-style sidedecks to the jacuzzi lounge.

After a night of revelry, head to the bridge deck. Take the rivetted-aluminium spiral staircase or the elevator, which runs from the tank deck, home to the Radio City-inspired cinema with popcorn maker, to the bridge deck, and you’ll find a gym overlooking the aft helipad (there is a second on the foredeck). Sweat it out in the hammam or have a massage in the beauty salon. After that, the sun deck beckons, with its 7m (23ft) oval pool with skylights filtering natural light into the lobby below. Then soak up the sun or snooze in the shade on the sunpads and sun lounges.

To get ashore, take the elevator to the lower deck lobby where one of two 10m (32.8ft) tenders is waiting to take you wherever you want to go. For using an armada of watertoys however, the place to be is the 4m (13.1ft)-deep swim platform, complete with hydraulic bathing steps.

The full-beam owner’s suite, forward on the main deck, is similarly bewitching. Accessed from the main deck or via a glass spiral staircase from the owner’s private observation lounge and office on the upper deck. The circular sweep of the windows and their wraparound views is echoed in the black circle in the carpet and the recessed lighting overhead. A spectacular his-and-hers bathrooms in contrasting marbles features a bath and a steam shower and one of the walk-in wardrobes can be concealed should her new owner wish to operate her commercially.

With a range of 6,000nm and Quantum stabilisers, this impeccably maintained 2,667GT yacht, defies limits on what is possible.

Heesen launches 55m "restyled" superyacht Serena in the Netherlands

Dutch shipyard Heesen has launched the 55-metre superyacht Serena from its facilities in Oss, the Netherlands in a ceremony attended by the owners and their family. The superyacht is the seventh unit in the shipyard's 55-metre Steel series, and the second to be built with a restyled exterior.

Serena was sold to her "experienced owner" in 2022 after beginning construction on speculation. The buyer was introduced by Arcon Yachts in Monaco with the firm representing the owner throughout the build.

She features a number of styling modifications that set her apart from her sisterships, the likes of Vida and Moskito , which include the removal of the mullions in the saloon and skylounge, as well as concealed crew access to the sundeck and a squared Jacuzzi. Her restyled exterior is the work of Omega Architects .

Other design adaptations for this new series model include a more aggressive profile, created by using continuous sheets of tinted glass, as well as a French balcony in the owner’s suite.

The new design of this 55 Steel also features extended exterior deck spaces to improve functionality, with additional stairways for increased crew access. On board highlights include casual al fresco dining spaces, a sprawling sundeck with a whirlpool and wraparound bar, as well as a vast private apartment for the owner’s suite, outfitted with walk-in wardrobes. Accommodation is for 12 guests across five cabins.

Luca Dini is responsible for the interiors of the yacht and accommodation is configured with the owner’s cabin on the main deck, a spacious VIP cabin on the wheelhouse deck and four additional guest cabins on the lower deck. Special attention was paid to the height of seating arrangements and user-friendly, practical materials, with interiors also incorporating velvet finishes, smoked eucalyptus and Amazonite marble inlays. 

The main saloon features a bronze-finished bar which serves the main deck aft and the lounge, with a second bar found in the skylounge alongside a games table. Another highlight is the redesigned atrium which incorporates hand-blown glass and hand-sculpted metal light fixtures from US-based designer John Pomp.

According to BOATPro , Heesen has 10 yachts currently in build or under construction – the largest of which is the 57-metre Project Setteesettanta .

This follows the announcement that another unit in its 55 Steel series had been sold, provisionally known as Project Venus.

Racing, celebrity and a rare important watch makes for a winning combination on the secondary market for timepieces. The Heuer Monaco 1133B, one of the most storied and distinctive racing watches, worn by actor and racing driver, Steve McQueen, will be a featured lot at Sotheby’s New York Important Watches sale on December 11. Its estimate is $500,000 - $1 million.

There are “few images that capture the synergy between the worlds of horology and motor racing as well as Steve McQueen, star of the 1971 popular racing movie, Le Mans , wearing his Gulf-striped racing suit and the Heuer Monaco with a blue dial,” Sotheby’s said in a statement. The 1133B will be part of a curated selection of vintage Heuer chronographs that reflect the Heuer’s heritage and connection to motorsport Sotheby’s. The themed sale is titled, “Heuer Champions.”

The historically important watch is one of six Heuer Monaco 1133B models with a blue dial sent to the Le Mans set. Two were fitted on stainless steel bracelets, and four with leather straps were worn by McQueen in the movie, Sotheby’s said. The model in this sale is one of the four watches he wore. Two of the six watches used for filming are in the TAG Heuer museum collection. So, this is one of the last movie-worn watches to come to auction.

The Heuer Monaco 1133B

The watch comes with a continuous history of possession from initial production through to today, Sotheby’s said. It was part of the dispatch of other watches and timing equipment sent from the Heuer factory in Switzerland to the set at the request of the property master, Don Nunley. After filming, it was acquired by Bevan Weston, a mechanic on the set.

Weston would wear the watch for 40 years as he continued his work as a racecar mechanic, Sotheby’s said. He sold the watch to a private collector in 2010, who is offering the piece in the auction.

The vintage watch appeared in public for the first time in more than 50 years at RM Sotheby’s flagship Monterey auction on August 14– 17. It will reappear again in public at Sotheby’s New York on December 5 – 10, prior to the sale.

Launched in 1969, the Heuer Monaco was among the first commercially available automatic chronograph wristwatches, introduced with the revolutionary Caliber 11 automatic chronograph movement. Other distinctive features include the square stainless-steel water-resistant case, and the blue dial with red hands and white subdials. Geoff Hess, Sotheby’s global head of Watches said this timepiece would lay the foundations for the future of sports watches.

“As a lifelong lover of the Heuer brand, it is a career highlight for me to be involved in bringing one of the most important watches in the history of the marque to auction,” Hess said. “The connection between cars and watches is well-known, but the reference 1133B encapsulates this union in a way unmatched by other timepieces.”

The watch was not initially a commercial success. However, its association with McQueen and Le Mans cemented its status in popular culture. In 1985, Heuer was acquired by Techniques d'Avant Garde, and the combined company was named TAG Heuer. The model was relaunched in 1997 under TAG Heuer brand and become successful because of advertising campaigns featuring the image of McQueen from the movie, Sotheby’s said.

The owner’s private duplex includes a gym, while the side decks on the sky lounge deck are exceptionally wide, measuring 100 meters all around. This feature allows guests to enjoy romantic strolls side by side while taking in the breathtaking views of the surrounding ocean.

Twin MTU engines power this luxurious yacht, which allows for comfortable cruising at 14 knots and reaches a maximum speed of 18 knots. AHPO also has an impressive range of up to 8,900 nautical miles from her 409,000-liter fuel tanks at 12 knots.

2. Lürssen: PELORUS (115m) – €185,000,000

The impressive PELORUS, built by Lürssen, is currently listed for sale at €185,000,000. This stunning vessel has a length of 115 meters and was delivered in 2003. The yacht features luxurious amenities and stunning exterior design.

The exterior of PELORUS, designed by Tim Heywood, boasts two swimming pools, two helicopter pads, and a swimming platform. The yacht has a maximum capacity of 18 guests, with ample room for 46 crew members to ensure a comfortable and safe journey.

KISMET boasts an impressive exterior styling by Espen Øino, while the interior was designed by Reymond Langton Design. The yacht features five decks, two helipads, and an Art Deco chandelier weighing an incredible 350 kilograms.

The vessel has a total of eight staterooms, which can comfortably accommodate up to 16 guests. The yacht also has space for up to 28 crew members, ensuring that guests receive the highest level of service and attention.

4. Oceanco: CLOUD 9 (88.5m) – €155,000,000

CLOUD 9, a luxurious superyacht, is now available for sale at €155,000,000. Built by Oceanco from the Netherlands in 2015, the vessel was previously named Infinity. CLOUD 9 boasts a striking exterior design by Espen Øino International and features naval architecture by Oceanco and Azure Yacht Design & Naval Architecture. With a volume of 2,914 GT and a length of 88.5 meters, the superyacht can comfortably accommodate up to 14 guests and 28 crew members, including the captain.

The main deck of CLOUD 9 boasts impressive features, including a circular pool with steps leading down to a spacious swim platform. Inside, guests can take advantage of the wellness center, complete with a beauty salon and gym featuring a sliding glass wall. The owner’s deck lounge easily converts into a cinema, while an indoor and outdoor dining area and entertainment lounge provide ample space for celebrations. The sky lounge, jacuzzi, and observation lounge offer additional luxurious amenities for guests to enjoy.

5. Lürssen: AL SAID (155m) – Price on application

AL SAID, another Lürssen-built megayacht listed for sale, was delivered in 2008. At 508 feet long, it cost the Sultan of Oman an estimated $600 million, and its opulence is evident. Espen Øino designed the exterior, which resembles a traditional cruise ship with dual exhaust stacks located in the middle of the superstructure. Constructed with a steel hull and lightweight aluminium superstructure, AL SAID can reach a top speed of 25 knots and cruises comfortably at 22 knots. The modern interior, crafted by Redman Whiteley Dixon, features standout elements such as a concert hall capable of accommodating a 50-member orchestra.
