Collection Methods

MyZone Tickets collects your information both passively (by having you provide it to us) and actively (through technologies such as cookies, web beacons, and Google Analytics, as well as through cooperation with partner businesses and third parties).

A. Passive Collection

As a customer, client, participant in our social network and marketing practices, you may provide us with personal contact details such as your name, information (phone number, email address, postal address, etc.), billing details (including your billing address, credit card details, etc.) and other information you may be prompted to provide.

This information may be required to purchase tickets, goods or services, or to participate in various contests or promotions. While you have the right to withhold your personal information, doing so may prohibit you from conducting transactions, accessing either your personal or company account, participating in contests, and so on.  You may also be prompted to provide demographic information, such as your age and gender. We may collect, store, and share this information in order to analyze our business, cater advertising and content to you, etc.

B. Active Collection

In addition to information that you provide to us, we may also actively collect information (both personal and nonpersonal) through active data gathering practices, using technologies such as cookies and web beacons, and through sharing with our clients, partner businesses, and third parties.  We may use cookies to personalize your experience on the site, track your activity on our site, identify you anonymously, and to gather information about your browser type and language.

This may include your bank account number, credit card number, pin number, expiration date, etc. You have the right to withhold your personal and billing information, however doing so may prohibit your ability to use in our site or conduct transactions with us or our partners, clients, and third parties.

We may also collect personal demographic information. This may include your gender, age, and preferences related to the use of our site and services. Finally, we may collect personal information about your specific activity on the site. This may include which pages you view, how often you visit, how long you spend on the site, which advertisements you click through, your purchasing habits, etc.

B. Non-Personal

Secondly, we may also collect general statistical information not personal to you specifically.  Using technologies included but not limited to those listed above and by sharing information with our partners, clients, and third parties, we may gather, store, and share information regarding the general use of our sites and services.  For example, in order to monitor our business and keep our investors, partners, and third parties informed, we may collect and share aggregate information such as average or periodic impressions, advertising statistics, etc.  The non-personal information we collect may be gathered directly or combined with non-personal information from other websites or outside parties. A. why we gather information.

There are a variety of reasons that we may collect information, both personal and non-personal. Information may be gathered to analyze our business, identify you, verify your transactions, customize your experience on the site, for marketing purposes, etc. Information you provide us may be sent to servers around Canada and around the world. We may also store your information for future use.  Most information is used to facilitate your purchasing experience on MyZone Tickets. This may include fraud protection and identity verification, delivery of your tickets (or other products and services you are obtaining from MyZone Tickets), and support for your customer or client account or transactions.

With your consent, we may contact you by telephone, email, postal mail, and other mobile devices to offer support or to advertise on our own behalf or that of partner businesses and third parties.  We may also use your information to analyze your use of our site, products, services, content and so on. This is to help us customize your experience, develop content, and offer you additional products or services. Additionally, your personal and financial information may be necessary to process refunds, credits, fight fraud and chargebacks.

B. Sharing Your information

Your information may be shared with our business partners and related companies. This may include advertisers, partner businesses, and third parties who provide services for our site. Third party service providers may be used by MyZone Tickets to fulfill orders and process payments. Shipping carriers and marketing parties may also receive your information.  While using MyZone Tickets, you may click through to outside websites operated by third parties. Our privacy policy does not apply to any third party website, and their collection, sharing, and use of your personal information is subject to their own privacy practices.

Your information may also be shared with event promoters and staff, including artists and their management, venues, and so on. MyZone Tickets does not plan or produce events, and promoters of events for which you have purchased tickets may use your information to contact you, analyze their business practices, etc.

We may also share your information in response to any legal action that MyZone Tickets or any of our partner businesses/third parties may be engaged in. This includes a response to a subpoena, warrant, court order, legal process or a request for cooperation from government or law enforcement, or for our own fraud protection.  We may also disclose information in the event of a large corporate transaction, such as a merger, sale, or bankruptcy involving MyZone Tickets.

C. Sharing Information with Event Organizers

MyZone Tickets is a 3rd party ticket seller.  By agreeing to share your information with Event Organizers at the time of purchase, your information may be shared with the Event Organizer you purchased tickets from for marketing purposes or information about future events.  If at anytime you wish to be removed from the Event Organizer's mailing list please contact them directly or unsubscribe from their list within their email if applicable.   To change your communication preferences on MyZone Tickets please contact  [email protected]  and a customer support representative will assist you with the process.

Protecting Your Information

We have both electronic and personnel security measures in place to ensure that your information is protected, and to prevent fraudulent use of your information.  Personnel access to your information is limited, and the appropriate information storage security measures as required by law have been implemented. All sensitive information gathered on the site is protected with SSL encryption.  MyZone Tickets is open to the public and does not monitor the age of users. In collecting personal information, we do not purposely gather information from children under the age of 13.

Your Options

By visiting MyZone Tickets or related websites, you are acknowledging and consenting to our information collection, storage, and sharing practices detailed in this privacy policy. You may elect not to provide information when prompted, but doing so may affect the functionality of certain functions of the site/s.

Terms of Purchase

MyZone Tickets is a third party ticketing service. We do not operate these events and cannot control unforeseen circumstances which may occur at an event. Please read the following terms and conditions carefully as this is a binding contract between yourself and MyZone Tickets. By marking the Terms of Purchase agreement and by completing your transaction you are agreeing to the terms of purchase. Please contact the producer of the event for their own terms of purchase and refund policies.

1(A). Refund Policy

All sales are final. There are no refunds, no cancellations, no credits, no exchanges, and no transfers after the order has been made. Unforeseen circumstances beyond MyZone Tickets control will not be grounds for a refund, including but not limited to the following: local or national weather conditions and natural disasters, waiting in lines, family and medical emergencies.

Promoters, Venue owners, Security and Event Staff have the right to refuse entry to any ticket holder, without a refund, for any reason at their discretion, including but not limited to: disorderly behavior, intoxication, venue capacity, breach of security restrictions. Ticket holders are aware that the Venue and Talent are subject to change. Ticket holders are aware that amenities promised by promoters are not guaranteed by MyZone Tickets and are not grounds for a refund, including but not limited to VIP amenities, drink specials, gifts, express entry, special areas, celebrity guests.

1(B). Policy for rescheduled or cancelled events due to COVID-19

Due to the impacts of the global COVID-19 pandemic, some events may be unexpectedly postponed or canceled due to circumstances beyond the control of MyZone Tickets, Event Staff, Promoters, Venue owners, and Security. Please review our updated policies for Canceled Events (2.) and Postponed Events (3.).

2. Canceled Events

If the event is canceled you will receive a refund for the face value of the ticket; service, shipping, and other fees are non-refundable under any circumstances. If the service fee is not listed, it may be embedded into the price of the ticket. To inquire about the amount of an embedded service fee, please contact customer support by emailing [email protected]. Tickets purchased at a retail outlet must be refunded at the retail outlet.

3. Postponed Events

Unforeseen circumstances, beyond the control of MyZone Tickets, Event Staff, Promoters and Venues, will not be grounds for a refund, including but not limited to: local or national weather conditions and natural disasters, waiting in lines, family and medical emergencies. This also includes postponement due to the request of local health authorities regarding COVID-19.

If the event is postponed, your ticket will be honoured at a later date, to be determined by the Event Staff. Customers will be contacted with instructions on how to update their tickets. Unless otherwise stated, there are no refunds for postponed events. 

If for any reason the postponed event does not proceed at the future date, customers will be notified of how to request a refund for the face value of the ticket; service, shipping, and other fees are non-refundable under any circumstances. Tickets purchased at a retail outlet or anywhere other than MyZoneTickets.com must be refunded at the original point of purchase.

4. Customer Inquiries

All customer support is handled by the MyZone Tickets online message system, in which case all customer support and refunds are handled by the event producer. Please contact customer support at [email protected].

5. Will Call

Every effort is being made to remain 100% contactless due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please request your ticket electronically when possible. 

Will call tickets must be picked up at the venue unless otherwise noted. Tickets left at will call will not be refunded. Will call start and end times are subject to change and are not grounds for a refund. You must present the original credit card used to purchase the ticket, a valid picture ID, and your “e-ticket” receipt. If you are unable to pick up your order because you do not have the aforementioned items in your possession at the time and place of pickup, you will not receive a refund for this purchase.

6. E-Ticket / Print@Home Tickets

E-Ticket / Print@Home Tickets must be presented at the event. Upon purchase, you will be emailed a PDF of your ticket(s) with a unique QR code. You can present the PDF directly from your mobile device at the event or print the PDF and present the printed ticket at the event.

  7. Shipping and Handling

The shipping and handling fee is non-refundable. Express tickets require a signature upon delivery and cannot be shipped to PO Box Addresses. All other shipping methods do not require a signature. Allow approximately 5 business days for delivery. Tickets will be delivered to the billing address of the credit card. If you enter an undeliverable address or if the tickets are returned unclaimed you will not receive a refund. International shipping is not available.

8. Release of Liability

MyZone Tickets is not affiliated with the events or event sponsors and MyZone Tickets will not cover losses or damages arising from your voluntary participation in the events, including claims for personal injury, or damage to personal property, or any other claims for negligence on the part of the events or event sponsors. By purchasing the tickets through MyZone Tickets, you hereby release and forever discharge MyZone Tickets, and its officers and agents, from any liability or claims for damages that may arise as a result of your attendance and participation at the events. It is hereby understood that the purchase of tickets by you and your participation in the events shall not be construed as an assumption on the part of MyZone Tickets of responsibility, liability, or control of the events.

9. Publicity

You understand that by attending the event you may be photographed and/or recorded as part of the event’s publicity materials and/or by a recognized media outlet.  You grant permission for your likeness and/or voice to be included therein without compensation, credit or consideration, in any publicity materials.

British tech magnate Mike Lynch and five other people were missing after their luxury sailing yacht sank during a freak storm off Sicily early Monday, Italy’s civil protection and authorities said. Lynch’s wife and 14 other people survived.

Lynch, who was  acquitted in June  in a big U.S. fraud trial, was among six people who remain unaccounted for after their chartered sailboat sank off Porticello, when a tornado over the water known as a waterspout struck the area overnight, said Salvo Cocina of Sicily’s civil protection agency.

One body was recovered, and police divers spent the day trying to reach the hull of the ship, which was resting at a depth of 50 meters (163 feet) off Porticello where it had been anchored, rescue authorities said. They returned to the site after 10 p.m. to see if it would be possible to search through the night, when weather conditions were expected to worsen, said Luca Cari, spokesman of the fire rescue service.

It had a crew of 10 people and 12 passengers, the Italian coast guard said. A sudden fierce storm had battered the area overnight, and struck the place precisely where the 56-meter (184-foot) British-flagged Bayesian had been moored.

“They were in the wrong place at the wrong time,” said Cocina, noting that another superyacht nearby wasn't as badly damaged and helped rescue some of the 15 survivors, who included Lynch's wife Angela Bacares.

The Bayesian was notable for its single 75-meter (246-feet) mast — one of the world’s tallest made of aluminum and which was lit up at night, just hours before it sank. Online charter sites listed it for rent for up to 195,000 euros (about $215,000) a week.

One of the survivors, identified as Charlotte Golunski, said she momentarily lost hold of her 1-year-old daughter Sofia in the water, but then managed to hold her up over the waves until a lifeboat inflated and they were both pulled to safety, Italian news agency ANSA reported, quoting the mother. Karsten Borner, the captain of the Sir Robert Baden Powell, said he had noticed the Bayesian nearby during the storm but after it calmed he saw a red flare and realized the ship had simply disappeared, ANSA and the Giornale di Sicilia newspaper reported. Borner said he and a crew member boarded their tender and found a lifeboat with 15 people, some of them injured, who they then took aboard and alerted the coast guard.

Eight of those rescued were hospitalized while the others were taken to a hotel. One body believed to be the cook was found near the wreck, but six others were unaccounted for and believed inside the hull, said Cari, the fire rescue spokesperson. The rescue operations, which were visible from shore, involved helicopters and rescue boats from the coast guard, fire rescue and civil protection service.

Fisherman Francesco Cefalu’ said he had seen a flare from shore at around 4:30 a.m. and immediately set out to the site but by the time he got there, the Bayesian had already sunk, with only cushions, wood and other items from the superyacht floating in the water.

“But for the rest, we didn’t find anyone,” he said from the port hours later. He said that he immediately alerted the coast guard and stayed on site for three hours, but didn't find any survivors. “I think they are inside, all the missing people.”

He said he had been up early to check the weather to see if he could go fishing, and surmised that a sudden waterspout had struck the yacht.

“It could be that the mast broke, or the anchor at the prow pulled it, I don’t know,” he said.

Cocina said the crew and passengers hailed from a variety of countries: In addition to Britain and the United States, passengers and crew were from Antigua, France, Germany, Ireland, Myanmar, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Spain, he said.

Among the dead and missing, four were British, two were American, and one was a man with dual citizenship from Canada and Antigua, according to Luciano Pischedda, the Italian Coast Guard official overseeing the rescue operations.

The UK Marine Accident Investigation Branch is deploying a team of four inspectors to Italy to conduct a preliminary assessment. The Foreign Commonwealth and Development office said it was “providing consular support to a number of British nationals and their families.”

Dutch foreign ministry spokesperson Casper Soetekouw said the lone Dutch citizen on board, a man, had been rescued and was not in life-threatening condition.

Lynch, once hailed as Britain’s king of technology, was cleared in June of fraud and conspiracy charges related to Hewlett Packard’s $11 billion takeover of his company, Autonomy Corp.

The not-guilty verdicts followed an 11-week criminal trial in San Francisco that delved into the history of HP’s  2011 acquisition  of Autonomy, a business software firm founded by Lynch.

The  fraud accusations  represented a dramatic turn in the fortunes of an entrepreneur once described as the Bill Gates of Britain — a title he seemed to live up to when he netted an $800 million from the Autonomy sale.

The acquittal vindicated Lynch, who had vehemently denied wrong doing and portrayed HP as a technological train wreck.

“I’m looking forward to returning the UK and getting back to what I love most: my family and innovating in my field,” Lynch said in a statement released after the verdict.

The yacht, built in 2008 by the Italian firm Perini Navi, can accommodate 12 passengers in four double cabins, a triple and the master suite, plus crew accommodations, according to Charter World and Yacht Charters.

The vessel, which previously was named Salute when it flew under a Dutch flag, featured a sleek, minimalist interior of light wood with Japanese accents designed by the French designer Remi Tessier, according to descriptions and photos on the charter sites.

Canucks star goalie Demko working through rare muscle injury

Training camp is underway in penticton ahead of what coach says will be tough season.

Vancouver Canucks goalie Thatcher Demko says he's been working his way back from a rare lower-body muscle injury since being sidelined in last season's playoffs. 

The 28-year-old all-star says the rehabilitation process has been frustrating, but he has made good progress in recent weeks and is confident he'll be able to return to playing.

He says he and his medical team have spent the last few months talking to specialists around the world, and have not found a single other hockey player who has dealt with the same injury. 

Demko missed several weeks of the last season with a knee ailment and played just one game in Vancouver's playoff run last spring before going down with the current injury.

He was not on the ice with his teammates as the Canucks started training camp in Penticton, B.C., on Thursday, but skated on his own before the sessions began. 

Demko posted a 35-14-2 record with a .918 percentage, a 2.45 goals-against average and five shutouts for Vancouver last season.

Tough season ahead: coach

Demko isn't the only player to miss training camp: Winger Dakota Joshua wasn't present as he recovers from surgery for testicular cancer. 

The team has also announced that veteran centre Teddy Blueger and defensive prospect Cole McWard will also miss the start of training camp after each had "minor lower-body surgery." 

But head coach Rick Tocchet says he has plenty to work with on the team, and he plans to switch his lines up a lot in Penticton.

"Nothing's set in stone," he said. "I think it's important that you have different puzzles at different times."

Tocchet also said he has warned his team of a tough season ahead.

The Canucks finished atop the Pacific Division with a 50-23-9 record last season, then ousted the Nashville Predators from the playoffs in a gritty, six-game first-round series. Vancouver then fell to the Edmonton Oilers in a seven-game second-round set.

"To get to the next plateau, there are higher expectations, and it's going to be hard. We know that," Tocchet said.

Last fall, Jim Rutherford, the Canucks president of hockey operations, said everything would have to go right for the team to make a playoff push. That doesn't change this season, he said, despite last year's success.

"The challenges will be greater, certainly. But I believe the team that we started with last year, we have just as good a team to start the season this year and probably better," he said.

"As long as the team builds off what they did last year, stick to what the coaches tell them, stick to the system, stick together in good times and bad times, this team has a chance to do pretty well."

Humongous $200M superyacht arrives in Vancouver

A 95-metre superyacht priced at $200 million was spotted cruising through False Creek before docking in North Vancouver. 

Attessa V Yacht was built in 2010 by Blohm and Voss, a German shipbuilding and engineering company. It arrived in Vancouver on Tuesday and moved over to a dock in North Vancouver on Wednesday morning.

AV can entertain 24 guests in 12 rooms and has a crew of 33 people. It features a large swimming pool on the deck, a private movie theatre and a jet pool jacuzzi. 

The superyacht was designed by Michael Leach Design and soars in ’speed and style.’

It costs $10 to $20 million per year to run the yacht.

Website SuperYacht.com lists the owner of the AV as Dennis Washington, an 88-year-old American billionaire whose net worth is listed at US$6.4 billion and is ranked number 397 in Forbes' richest people in the world . 

Washington, from Montana, claims to be ‘self-made’ and owns a copper mining, marine transportation and heavy equipment business, according to Forbes. He is married with two children. In an interview with Forbes.com, Washington said his passion is boats. 

Washington’s network of companies includes Washington Marine Group and Seaspan Shipyards in North Vancouver, where Kyle Washington, Dennis Washington’s son, is executive chairman.

The AV Yacht was previously known as Palladium and is listed as an award-winning superyacht.  It was previously owned by Mikhail Prokhorov, a Russian oligarch and previous owner of the Brooklyn Nets. The yacht drew attention when The Late Show host Stephen Colbert visited Prokhorov on the yacht. 

Superyachts flocking to Vancouver Island

Superyachts flock to B.C. every year. One recently drew attention in B.C.’s capital when a Brazilian billionaire docked in Victoria. 

The 62-metre-long vessel called the Anawa was docked at Ship Point on May 30, clad with its own helicopter on deck. 

Billionaire Jorge Paulo Lemann owns the yacht, according to Superfanyacht.com. Forbes.com says the investor-philanthropist lives in Switzerland and is worth $14.8 billion.

Anawa was custom-designed and built in 2020 by Damen Yachting. It’s one of the company’s SeaXplorer class of vessels, billed as “long-range, luxury expedition” yachts.

It can carry 12 guests and 15 crew plus a captain, Damen said.

Back in 2020, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones's yacht was spotted in the  waters off Vancouver Island . The "Bravo Eugenia" is worth an estimated quarter-billion dollars.

The superyacht is designed to use 30 per cent less fuel than other vessels of its size and class but it doesn't skimp on amenities. The "Bravo Eugenia" can accommodate 14 guests and 30 crew members and features six guest suites, a beach lounge, spa and gym.

On Tuesday, the AV Yacht wasn’t the only yacht drawing attention. A 32-metre vessel called the Snowbored was passing through False Creek  with the final destination of Galiano Island. 

The Snowbored, built by Westport in 2003, is a 32-metre vessel with a satin cherry wood interior, and a sundeck sporting a hot tub, wet bar, and lounge pads. It also has a fighting chair and rocket launcher for sport fishing, and can launch a Novurania tender and Yamaha waverunners.

In a statement to Glacier Media, the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority says anyone wishing to view the Attessa V in Vancouver's inner harbour area by boat "is urged to ensure they do so from a safe distance." "We love seeing boaters and paddlers out enjoying the waters that make up the Port of Vancouver," says Jason Krott, manager of marine operations and fleet. "Our focus is working with all users to build the awareness and understanding needed to support a safe shared space for recreational and commercial traffic."

Day One of the 2023 North American Championship in Vancouver, Canada

Vancouver BC (May 31, 2023) - The thirty teams of sailors ready to compete on the first day of the 2023 Star North American Championship, hosted by Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, woke this morning to bleary overcast skies, temperatures in the low 50s, and a non sustainable breeze from the east. This was certainly not what they were hoping for after the last few days of sunnier weather and the westerlies of English Bay, typical for early Summer.

The race committee left the dock at the scheduled time, anticipating a postponement at noon. The sailors were also anticipating the AP, as they took their time leaving the dock. AP went up at noon, as the breeze had not shifted and come up to required racing conditions. The Star sailors floated around the committee boat and the numerous anchored cargo ships that are a fixture in English Bay for about two hours before the skies over the bay cleared and enough breeze from the west came into play.

Race one finally was in sequence at about 2:30, the heading to the weather mark set at 280 with a distance of 1.3 miles, course 4 (four legs, finishing downwind), in a light breeze of about 5 knots. One team at the pin end jumped the gun and was over early but immediately cleared for a clean start. With the wind being a bit shifty, the second weather mark was moved to the left at a bearing of 265.

Race one was completed in the target duration, as James Buckingham with crew Phil Toth (USA) winning with a noticeable lead. Following were Brian Ledbetter and Brian Terhaar (USA) in second, with local sailors Allen Cullen and Dave Martin (CAN) finishing third.

As it was getting late in the day, the committee was anxious to immediately get started with race two. The course was set at a bearing of 280, same distance, and the race went into sequence, but was quickly AP’d to allow for a course adjustment to 260 as the wind had shifted left. Race two was all about avoiding the flood tide, and catching the left trends, meaning go left and go up the beach, all while calculating lay lines to the mark and avoiding the anchoring container ships, lots to consider.

The teams that conquered the conditions in race two were George Szabo and Guy Avellon (USA) finishing first, followed by locals Hunter Lowden and Brett Wilson (CAN) with Scott Barnard and Kilian Weise (USA) finishing third.

Leading the regatta after two races are George Szabo and Guy Avellon (USA) with six points. There is a tight spread at the top of the leaderboard as Brian Ledbetter and Brian Terhaar (USA) are one point behind in second place, with Will Stout and Parker Mitchell (USA) in third with eight points.

Eight races are scheduled over four days, May 31-June 3, 2023, two races per day.
