I dont like a swim platform for blue water use. A breaking wave landing on it is not going to do the boat much good! Dont much like them at anchor either, as boat is likely to be pitching more than rolling (particularly a multi), and a midships ladder is much safer. Lot of weight on the stern, so that adds to the pitching.

I am in the process of designing one now. I am trying to design platform that will swing up when not in use. Also considering hatch boards in transom to make platform more accessible. My Border Collie loves to swim, he is too heavy to carry up a ladder, I also think it will be easier to unload water fuel, etc.I will wait until I have platform complete to decide on ladder or Hatchboards.
